The fact that even when I'm not losing, I'm so much more emotionally stable on LC, I'm practically a different person.

I like the new me much better, even if she isn't thin yet.

The forum is a big help but knowing that low-calorie low-fat diets do NOT work for me any longer and knowing I can do low-carb without starving all the time keeps me motivated.

Default Hi!

I think it's knowing I can do this without feeling like I am starving every hour of the day. That right there tells me it is possible and doable (if that's a word.) Also, even though I stopped for close to a year and re-gained, I had tremendous success with it before, so I think that is helping me feel like I know what works for my chemistry/body. It's a matter of staying focused. Also, better health in general. My blood pressure drops, my back and joints don't bother me and I have more energy. Gosh, I started this with a thought and found out there were more reasons than I thought to keep it going. Thanks for asking. I think I needed to remind myself some of the reasons for doing this also...

Anita

I have been doing this LC woe for 3 mo now and lost 32lbs as of today, I feel sooooo terrific and am not misssing any of those high carb daily treats I use to have. This is my 3rd attempt but this time I know it is working and will continue to because there are so many good low carb substitutes and I don't feel deprived at all. This forum is also great, to know you are in good company.

When the going gets tough, take the time to review you list (you have one, right?) of all the benefits you're deriving from LC.

My (partial) list:
no heartburn
no heart palpitations
lowered cholesterol & triglycerides
fewer headaches
better sleep
no more wild blood sugar swings
better appearance
more stamina for daily life
my husband thinks I'm hot!

Start your list. Review it as you need to.

Here's my list of "Vanished Symptoms"
Acid Reflux
Sleepless Nights (see acid reflux)
Creaking painful knees
Hip pain (like it was 'out of socket')
Stinging foot pain with each step
Head aches
Self~Hate (big one for me)
No Stamina (work or play)
Speaking of "stamina"... sex seemed like 'too much effort'

What keeps me motivated... FEAR & SATISFACTION...
Fear of going back and finding each item on my list again.
Satisfaction in the changes I have made.
