Default Appetite of destruction

Hi there, me again

Since being on Atkins my appetite has dropped daily. This is kinda a good thing, but i have to force myself to eat.

I have 3 meals a day, none of wich i want to eat, but all of which i eat cause i know i have to!

What ive done is reduce my portion size from, example:

normal breakfast on atkins

2 eggs, 2 bacon, 1 sausage

now im eating one egg, and one peice of bacon.

lunch used to be a big stake or 3 burger patties etc.

now its 1 little peice of stake of burger pattie.

I'm NEVER hungry for dinner but allwasy try and eat somthing.

Is it bad to eat this little, my portions have generally dropped over the last week to about 60% of origional size.

and im getting about 1700 caleries / day.

70% fat, 25% protien, 5% carbos.

Any thoughts, also thoughts of how i can improve appetite.

Im weight training for 45 mins once every 2 days, and running for 20 mins once every two days, alternate days to weight training.

I'm worried that im not eating enough, and also that i never want to eat, i used to ALLWAYS want to eat! hehe.

Hi Jake,

I've always heard that you should have 10 - 12 times your body weight in calories... that would be somewhere between 1990 and 2388 calories a day. So, my initial thoughts are that you're not eating enough right now. Are you using Fitday.com to track your foods?

One of the wonderful things about the LC lifestyule is that it decreases our appetite, however, we it's important that we do not go into a starvation mode. I didn't see any vegetables or salad on your food list. That's one of the things that I would try to change right away. It's so important! I would also try to eat every 4 - 6 hours and at least three meals, preferably 4 - 6.

I would also encourage you to look at some of the recipes and try a variety of foods. If you eat the same thing everyday it's easy to get bored. Try Donald's Deep Dish pizza or Chicken with Broccoli and mushrooms for variety...believe me...you'll want to eat a little more if you enjoy what your eating.

Hope that's helpful

Hi - I've been looking for Donald's Deep Dish Pizza but can't find it - can someone point me in the right direction (it's probably right under my nose).

Thank you.

its in main dishes under the kitchen forum - I could link you if I wasn't so technically challenged. The quiche is delish and a staple in my home. I love it with spinach and sausage.

Vikki,

Hope you enjoy Donalds pizza recipe. Everytime I make it...it gets raving reviews. What's funny, is that the people are usually not even low carbing. They just love the pizza!

I agree, it looks good. I think I miss pizza more than any other food, except maybe ice cream.

Vikki and BrewWa,

I have to make 2 of those pizza's for a party tomorrow...so, wish me luck. You'll really enjoy it once you make it...it's takes away those pizza cravings and it's perfectly "legal"!

Speaking of pizza I discovered a very unattractive snack experimenting with my pepperoni crisps.

Nuke pepperoni for about 10 seconds on a napkin then remove the napkin and pop back in the microwave with an oz/stick of mozzerella string cheese all broken up over the meat for about 30 more seconds and you have the gooey pizza topping.

It isn't pretty but man is is yummy and only 2 carbs.
