Default Good blood work results

I went to the doctors this month and just got the results of my
lab work. I wanted to post, to show that Atkins is indeed a
healthier way to eat
Last Year(low fat) Since Atkins 7/8/02
Cholesterol, Total 212 174
Triglycerides 400 145
HDL 46 43
VLDL 80 29
LDL 86 102
LDL/HDL ratio 1.8 2.3

I was very pleased with this, especially my total cholesterol,
triglycerides and VLDL And I had stopped
taking my cholesterol-lowering drug, so these results were
obtained just by following the diet. Atkins does work!

Sorry...the chart didn't post exactly the way I typed it, but the first number is before Atkins and the second number is after Atkins.

Wow, MayLisa.....those are wonderful results. I am going to the Dr. on Friday and hope that I can come up with some improvement like you have. I'm still on my cholesterol meds, but I dropped my diuretic when I started Atkins. I'm also hoping for a lowering of my blood pressure..........one of the major reasons I decided to lose weight was to get off some of these pills that I take.
Here's to a healthier life the Atkins way!!!!

Cool My one-year test results

Hi MayLisa! I was looking for a place to post my results, and found yours. I saw my doctor yesterday to go over my test results after one year on Atkins, and she was really pleased. Everything is still within a healthy range, but because some things have improved, the overall effect is a healthier me.

One year ago/Atkins since 11/1/01
(Goal levels are in parentheses)

Cholesterol (>200): 190/215
HDL (>40): 57/76
LDL (<130): 105/128
Triglycerides (<150): 167/65
Glucose: 93/101 (both normal)
Uric acid: both normal

My overall cholesterol is up a little, but still within a healthy range. The "bad" cholesterol is up a little, but still within a healthy range. The "good" cholesterol went up a lot, and the triglycerides went down a lot -- both very healthy signs. The triglycerides before Atkins were really the only thing that was out of the healthy range for me, so that's a real improvement.

Everything else is normal and I've lost 25 pounds so far, which my doctor thought was great!
