Default I'm sort of back, too...

I can't visit here too often as it makes me crazy to think about what I'm eating too much, ya know?

I read the GO-Diet book and started following it, although the only real difference from what I was eating before is now I'm eating yogurt and nuts.

Well, I'll be. I started losing again! I thought the nuts would make me gain! I eat about 10 whole almonds for one snack w/ 1/2 c plain yogurt and 20 pecan halves w/ the yogurt for another. Amazing.

I bought a Yogourmet yogurt maker, got my first batch 'cookin' right now.

How are you all doing weight-wise? Are you sticking to the plan? I've been reading PPLP, find it much more informative than PP was. More info on the 'whys' of our situation.

My sister has been eating LOTS of carby stuff the last few years, lots of fruit, fruit juice, now it's Slimfast. She isn't overweight, but just found out she has a cholesterol problem. Her last comment about it was something about 'no more cheese'. She is 'lipophobic' thinks fat is the cause of every problem. She isn't open to the truth. ooh well, what can I do?

Have a great day!

Amy

Thumbs down that SF thing~

hi Amy, welcome back, even sorta heheh... this forum does have a tendency to keep one aware of their diet, huh. I have to share something my dad said... we was talking about my back, and he was saying you know if you lost some of the weight, you would not hurt as bad I think. I said dad, I have dieted, and it didn't work... he said well I tried slimfast this past winter, and I lost 6 lbs. on it... he said you should try that. I said, I did dad, I gained 7 lbs. on it... he said you must have been not doing it right...I said, actually I wrote down every thing I put into my mouth, and kept close watch on my eating... you have to figure that my system is probably really screwed up from years and years of dieting, and yours isn't... not to mention my mom's side of the family having diabetes in the genes... guess it would have been a good time to explain about insulins and such eh? I love ya dad... but telling me I must not be doing it right because it worked for you and not me... know what I mean?

oh boy do I know what you mean. Another sister of mine gets this condescending look on her face and mumbles something about portion control. At my worst, I want to smack her, in the middle I just laugh, at my best, I am soooo grateful that I have had this life experience. Are we more compassionate toward overweight people or what?! There is nothing like sharing/experiencing a struggle to get you past that holier than thou ignorance.

You've probably noticed, too, that is it mostly through our struggles that we grow.

Best wishes!

Amy

Default HI Janyedi

Janeydi
It's a family reunion!!!!!!
Glad to hear the eats have been going well for you and that
the yogurt and nuts are tolerable. I found that if I eat raw nuts
I'm fine and happy but canned nuts rip me apart. Speaking of rip....Slimfast, tried it once and thought I was going to need a stomach transplant. That was after just one can!
This is soooo much more healthier than a fasting type diet and I believe will be far easier to maintain.
Sisters are sisters huh??? Just do what's right for you and makes you feel the best. You don't have to defend your way, they will see the results and how easy it is for you to stay with this wol
AND sometimes even have your cake and eat it too

I HAVE done LCing before,in my younger years so it is not new to me and SOME ppl do induction because they HAVE to... And since induction is the hardest phase of the aktins program I hardly see myself as an "AKtid" for sticking with it & then continuing on with it even after my necessary 2 weeks of it are up.

Yeah the LC way of life HAS been good to me... a 14# loss in a week and 15" loss in about 10 days. I have not measured or weighed for awhile tho. Induction's been likened to bootcamp... and it's not only my choice to stay in it... it is also the choice of many on this forum who go BACK to induction after stalls and bumps in the road... so there MUST be something about it eh? Induction IS how many get back on track~ so good luck with however you choose to get back on track~

Unhappy Oops

Did not mean to offend. My apologies. I will admit to not being a big atkin's diet fan, but I still did not mean to lay that on you at all. The GO Diet "induction" is a 7 day transition which includes three days of more limited choices, and four days of adding fiber, yogurt, veggies and selected fruit in order to make a healthy woe. The Drs. think we ought to be able to even eschew (sp?) supplements if we are eating truly healthy. Carb limits are 50 a day and it is a LIFE -time and -style commitment...like induction and the atkins diet, it ain't easy...but my experience is that it works and it is healthy and balanced! Those things are important to me at this point and certainly in the long run.

Hope you can accept my apologies and stay with us. I for one, enjoy a lively debate and a bazillion different veiwpoints and conversations!

Jo

Default Squash and PM

Ok ok, I'll go delete my teensy little inbox. maybe if I DON"T empty it you will send me email??? hmmm?

Acorn squash...1/2 c .2 prot 14.9 carbs 2.9 fiber

Whew...12 carbs. Not a real good choice, but with just protein could make it a meal...seems to me there are better squash to choose...ahhh, butternut squash is 10.7 carbs and 2.9 fiber for 1/2 c cooked. that's much better. Mmmm sp pie...you ARE bad! My downfalls have been popcorn recently...at home or at the movies. And everyday something that just doesn't belong. I haven't been keeping track in Lifeform though so I really don't know how I am doing...should go look maybe. But not today, no time. Working this afternoon taking a group of DD to do an activity of THEIR choosing, and then youth group tonite at the UU! Too much fun. Next big outing...when I pull anchor and run (or in this case FLY) is a WEEK in San Francisco! TOOOOO EXCITING! No, I take that back...there is a Youth COnference a couple weeks before our trip...3 days with YRUU kids and THERI FOOD! Oh MY! Gotta go...hear soon. Jo

Default hi Jo~

You seem like you are a fun person And I hope I didn't start off bad with ya~ I am not all that familiar with all the LC plans, after I lose some more weight, I plan on checking some more of them out because I do miss my veggies and fruits... but induction is tougher and I know it.. but at my weight right now, I gotta be tough! Hey, have you ever had spaghetti squash... the insides are like spaghetti strands...I like it, and is good with spaghetti sauce... lower carb of course
I got a primo recipe for a zuchinni casserole and one can't tell the zuchinni is even in there. Will have to post it.
Do you work with disabled ppl? My son, who is 22, has CP, is SMH with seizure disorder. There's a pic of him in my journal, and hubby hooked up my scanner so there'll be new ones up soon... we have a baby... will be 1 yr. old on Oct. 17th.
Hope this is the start of a LC friendship~
