Talking Hello everyone......

My name's Flipper (been called that for years, not just online) but recently I started to feel more of a Moby (as in Dick, the big whale!)
Stood on some scales and topped 100kg's - not good, so I bit the bullet and joined in with the rabbit food munchers at work after so many years of scoffing at their efforts.
Well, that's what I thought that I was doing, until I actually sat down and read a book that I happened to pick up 1 day a few weeks ago. Hmm.... some of this stuff looks great, and where's all the rabbit food?
So yes, I tried it out for a couple of weeks and I've already lost several pounds. The recipes in the book were/are some of the best tasting food I've ever eaten, problem is, now I want MORE!

looking to gain a bit of knowledge about all this low-carb stuff here so I'll be trawling through as many posts as possible from now on. I just never realised how much support there was out here, looking forward to getting stuck in and achieving my goals before I buy a new dry suit - incentive, see?

My name is Flipper.... and I am NOT a whale!

Cheers! A drysuit is an excellent incentive. I like to dive too and do not own any equipment other than snorkel and mask. Maybe I'll buy a wetsuit when I reach my goal. No cold water for me, thanks.

I just joined this forum this week and started my MLB diet last Sunday. I've lost 4.5 pounds. This is working for me and I'm not hungry or feeling deprived.

Good luck, Flipper! Maybe we'll be calling you Barracuda soon.

Greetings and welcome aboard, Flipper!

I see that you haven't chosen a plan yet. I highly recommend reading through the "Which low-carb plan is right for me?" link to the right and choosing a plan. You can always switch later. Then get the associated book and read it. Then follow the plan. There are a lot of subtleties to low carbing (or any proper diet) and so benefit from the experience and research that went into developing a main-line plan.

As you progress, you will learn a lot about low-carbing and about your particular body and can they start crafting your own personalized plan from a position of knowledge.

Keep the Faith!

Cool Let me introduce myself.....

I've been on the Atkins diet two weeks tomorrow. I lost 4 lbs the first week; only 1 this week. The headaches are finally starting to go away, and I'm again sleeping through the night. I have 20 lbs more to go - all of which I gained since February when I quit smoking. I'm looking forward to chatting with you. If anyone has some suggestions for breakfast other than eggs, I would love to hear them.

Greeting and welcome, Rupertgirl!

Glad that the headaches are going away - you're pretty much on par for that.

The weight loss will slow dramatically from this point on - if it doesn't then you are losing too quickly and may have trouble maintaining at the end. But the fact that you only recently gained the weight may allow you to lose it quite quickly - I hope so.

Cheers!
