Question Low carb chocolates?

Hi there all,

Has anyone tried any of the various LC chocolate bars, Sugarlite website seems to have a fair few? I'm after the nearest tasting to Cadbury's that I can get! I don't want to order some and then find they taste like the stuff you buy down the market!!!!! You know the really cheap stuff! The Belgian chocs look nice and the praline centres, anyone had previous experience with them?

I've been sneaking some normal chocolate at the moment just for treats, ie one small square and still seem to be loosing albeit ever so slowly, but that's fine as I'm in no hurry now to loose the last 2lbs. I'd rather enjoy some luxurys now!

I tell you what, since coming back from hols for two weeks I feel liberated. I've stopped counting carbs, weighing food, using Fitday. I'm FREE! I was definitely getting obsessive with them, and I'm finding I'm still doing OK without. Not even jumping on the scales every day. I know the last 2 lbs will come off, but I don't care if it takes 4 months! because the general direction is down. This is definitely the way of life for me, I'm in the groove with LC and don't want to go back to stuffing loads of carbs down my throat, even though the odd croissant doesn't hurt!

Thanks for reading my ramble, the chocs the main question so I'm appreciate your comments.

I have a pure-delite chocolate bar every other day or so. They taste great, but contain maltilol, a sugar alcohol. Some say that sugar alcohols cause stalls. Since I'm trying to run a program that I can follow, I consider this an acceptable risk, like coffee. If I cut out everything that might cause a stall I wouldn't be able to follow the program.
Like you I quit weighing and logging everything. I used fitday for over one month and definitely saw my eating patterns are in compliance with the program. I never use a scale. I log most of my weight lifting and cardio routines.

Thanks Doug,

I'll see if the UK does the Pure-delight brand. It's definitely worth a treat every now and again!

See ya

Smile Low carb chocs

Boots (the chemist) stock low carb chocolates in the Diabetic foods section. They've got Belgian Chocolate - Plain, Milk, Hazlenut, Hazlenut and Fruit and White.

They're all really nice and come in at 9g of carbs per 100g (which is one whole bar) apart from the Hazlenut and Fruit which is about 13g.

I've found that they don't affect my ketosis levels.

They do some nice toffee too !

Hi Banana

Congrats on getting off the "diet" and onto the "woe"! I don't weigh, except annually as a marker, and don't count carbs either any more. As you say, Fitday shows me I am basically on plan.

For the chocolate thingy, I have found that I don't need the sweetness of CDM (Cadburys Dairy Milk) any more and usually only eat/cook with 70-72% cocoa solids chocolate, and I have even been known to eat 85% cocoa solids chocolate as a snack! Even my kids are happy to share a bar with me, so I see that as a definite step in the right direction.

Katy
