Unhappy I Am So Upset...

And I don't know what to do...

I just entered my food for today, and I am beside myself. I went to a baseball game today, and it isn't the best LC place. I was starving so I got a hot dog, did not eat the roll. Then rather than pretzels, ice cream, popcor, cotton candy, etc, I decided to get some cashews. I had remembered they werent too bad on the carb count. I was very proud of myself.

Then tonight we went to a diner and I had a gyro, did not eat the pita, french fries, nothing....just the meat, veggies and sauce...again thinking I did great...

Well long story short, I am freaking out. I am supposed to keep under 40 g carbs. On my "good" day I did "good" on calories (1674). But HORRIBLE on carbs...my ECC was 55 I freak when I get near 35. I don't know what to do with myself.

I am obviously going right back to normal, but I need to know what kind of damage I did, and If I need to do anything special from here on in...

Well let me go beat myself up!

Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

~Michelle (not so today)

Talking It's about to be a new day

Don't fret. You know how to do it, you tried to make good decisions, didn't turn out so well.

Monday will be better.

no worries, just keep going and don't toss all your good work for an odd day.

An ECC of 55 for one day isn't the end of the world, how many carbs were you eating a day before? I'd bet alot more than that! You made great choices, given what you had at the time. So don't beat yourself up, you did good! Eating what you did was better than eating nothing at all.

Next time though, if you know you are going somewhere like this again, come prepared!

I agree with those who think you are beating yourself up over nothing... besides, how do you know it was 55? are you using fitday.com? seems to me there is a lot of guesswork when you use that tool - it's a great tool, don't get me wrong, I love it, but still, sometimes it's hard to get just the right portion, or the exact food, etc. etc.

Do you use the sticks? are you still in ketosis? If so, no worries.

I gather from what i've read that you CAN set yourself back a week or so if you really splurge on the carbos, but it doesn't sound like you did.

Sometimes you end up in a situation where you just have to make the best choices from what's available. Sounds like you did just that!

I want to thank you all for your support . I would not make it through if it wasnt for all of you! I think it was just a big shock for me.
Yes Mrfreddy, I WAS using fitday.com, so maybe it was 50 or 60 instead of 55!
I don't use the keto sticks because I am on PPLP not atkins, so I am not someone who watches for ketosis carefully.
What more can I say...
Thanks!

your fitday carbos may have been 40 or 60, even...

but no matter, even if you had eaten 8 gallons of ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there is only one thing you can do: go back to your plan and stick with it! In the long run, one little screw up here and there doesn't mean that much.

Thank you Mrfreddy. I have not let it get me down, and I have just kept doing what I have been doing.
I have learned that cashews are not the snack of choice, thats for sure!!
Thank you for caring...

summer, sounds like you made the best choices you could! What if you had eaten all the other stuff, your carbs would have been around a thousand or so (right?) We just do it day by day. (if only the candy bar machine in the breakroom at work would stop calling my name!!!!)

Unhappy re: i am so upset

Hi summer,
i too freak out when i do not keep my foods in the low carb range but since i am not exactly counting carbs on the Somercize plan i try to keep a protein and fat diet with carbs from fruit and veggies. on a bad day i eat chicken fajitas with tortilla chips & salsa and a few tortillas.

so don't sweat. sometimes you do your best but can't do any better than that. you are not perfect. you cannot expect to be perfect or you will fail. NO ONE is perfect.

remember the way to look at this is every meal is a new opportunity to do well. once it is done you cannot undo it. (unless you become bulemic which is a whole nother issue) and need to go from there.

We do not expect you to be perfect and you should not expect your self to be perfect. if you are like me i am my own biggest critic and no one else is as mean to me as me. Keep up the good work.

Beth
