Cool Low-Carb Magazines

Does anyone know of any fitness magazines that believe in low carb. I used to be an avid reader of Shape before I saw the light. Now I look at it and think, "Oh, these poor misinformed people." Sure, occasionally they put in an article or two about reducing carbs, but it is certainly not stressed as being healthy.

Also, sorta off topic and couldn't really think of where to put this question.

Cellulite - need I say more?

I find no matter what size I get to, there it is, haunting me. Any tips, suggestions....rants?

Thanks all!

Linnea

Hi there Linnea......

I'm a huge fan of magazines.....and I've been keeping my eye out for a LC mag. So far....haven't found one! However....I'm seeing more and more information in a variety of mags, about LC. Advertisements and articles that are cautiously pointing out that lowering carb intake can be beneficial.

I think it's an untapped market and hopefully soon.....some entrepreneur somewhere will get on the bandwagon.

Linnea,
I recently read a short piece on Cellulite in I believe Muscle Media Magazine. From what I can remember cellulite is not just fat it is made up of all your connective tissue that is under the skin. I don’t think the article had any info on how to get rid of it, sorry. Here is a article I just found that explains what cellulite is. http://www.findarticles.com/cf_dls/...1/article.jhtml

Thank you very much for the article....

Although.....YUCK! I'd say cosmetic surgery is a little drastic.

Ew, my tummy is turning just think about that procedure.

(I never thought I'd ever actually use that smiley.)

In the past, whenever I combined aerobic, light-weight training workouts and self-massage, the cellulite in my thighs virtually disappeared or minimized greatly which is a "marvel" since I'm 49. Even last year I saw it happen, but it returned when I stopped the weight workouts. I re-started just a couple of weeks ago so I'm hoping it will work once again.

There is a new fitness magazine on the market that
seems to contain quite a few low-carb articles in it
each month.

It's called Fitness RX Magazine. Visit the site at:
http://www.fitnessrxmag.com/

I've found it in my local Chapters stores as well at
places like 7/11 etc.

It's quite good, I won't buy Shape or Fitness anymore.

Muscle and Fitness generally supports lower-carb diets, although serious bodybuilders have to take in higher carbs in order to exercise for four hours a day.

I've read numerous articles in Women's Muscle and Fitness about reducing carbs, especially when they compete and have to look "cut."

I'm suprised there's not an official Atkins magazine.

While it doesn't have much to do with fitness, there is a monthly e-zine at www.holdthetoast.com.

Also in the research/media forum there was a new LC magazine mentioned...but it costs money to subscribe to, so I won't right now.

Default carb health magazin

carbhealthmag.com - I just went to the site and they are now ready to take subscriptions. However, it is $20 for a year and it's only a few pages right now.

Shape this month had a *major* cover article that stresses protein. And then there was a 3 month workout that recommends you combine it with a high protein diet and you can lose up to 20lbs in 3 months..(supposedly even atkins)

Not too much of a big deal though, I only read some of it and its basic stuff I'd say most of us know already. There were some recipies in it too though.

My first issue (the "premiere issue") of Carb Health magazine arrived today. Haven't had time to really sit down with it but I wanted to let you know that it's being published and sent now. I'm soooo excited to read it! Will give you the update after I have read it.
