Hello my name is Chunky Butt and I am an induction nut junkie.

Umm, did you read the book?
I hate to tell you this, but nuts are NOT part of the induction diet.
Page 123 of the newest DANDR paperback states "Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks".
So, I guess you will have to go cold turkey. Literally. OK, you can have your turkey hot if you like, but no nuts. LOL.

Default Room in the Confession Booth for another "nutter"?

Hope there's enough room, Chunky, cuz I'm right there with ya.

Was doing great, 12days into the diet and last night I had a bit of a pistachio fest (3oz?) and ate a tbsp of peanut butter....

Don't fret - at least it wasn't chocolate covered nuts?? or chocolate peanut butter ice cream?? OHHHH I'm making myself nuts, here........

Default don't feel like the Lone Ranger

I ate some nuts on induction too: Macadamias and almonds, and I ate them on the days when I did an hour-long cardio class and felt like h*ll.

Although I'd love to reach goal weight, another important goal is to find a food plan I can follow the rest of my life. Atkins recommends adding carbs back (after induction) in this order:

1. more salad and other vegetables on the acceptable foods list
2. fresh cheeses (as well as more aged cheese)
3. seeds and nuts
4. berries
5. wine and other spirits low in carbs
6. legumes
7. fruits other than berries and melons
8. starchy vegetables
9. whole grains

So I forgave myself for eating a few nuts. I hope you've done the same!

Well nuts aren't allowed in the first 2 weeks of induction. But it is allowed after that. I guess eating a little can't hurt you, but remember to drink lots of water. Good Luck

Yeah, nuts aren't allowed on induction. On the other hand, no deity of dieting is going to smite you with a lightning bolt for it. I would imagine that nuts are (dare I say it?) small potatoes compared to other things you could have had. That isn't license to eat buckets o' nuts, of course, but it does mean that you can afford to cut yourself a small bit of slack for making a smarter food choice and going with the least of many evils.

Whenever I feel faintly horrified at having eaten something I oughtn't have eaten, I try to remember that all it can do is slow me down, not stop me. If I eat that extra handful of nuts, I'll notice it later---but I'll also try to remember that they really were awfully good, and maybe going slower some weeks is okay for you.

I totally understand, by the way. Nuts are a great downfall of mine, because they're just so easy to eat.
