Default Grapefruit in a LOW CARB diet

Hi Everyone!. I was wondering if having 1/2 grapefruit with every meal is a good idea. I was told that grapefruit is the best fruit there is for fat burn and weight loss and there is a LOW CARB diet guideline that requires the eating of grapefruit with every meal.

From what I understand the Low Carb way of life eschews the eating of fruits..

Can anyone help me out with this?

Thanks!

According to the references:

1 medium aprox 4 inch dia grapefruit contains 20.68 grams of carbs.

For that you could be eating a ton of salad and fresh veggies loaded with micro nutrients and vitamins.

I would say nope to the grapefruit. Go with something that has more bang for the buck

I am curious as to whom told you it was the best at burning fat.

As far as the eschewing of fruit.....I eat berries and cantelope. But in moderation of course and not every meal

Sounds like that 'pseudo mayo clinic diet' that has made the rounds - not really what we'd call 'low carb', nor was it affiliated with the Mayo Clinic.

While Atkins typically consists of just berries and the odd piece of melon during OWL, Protein Power does let you eat more fruit (as the carbs are slightly higher). Grapefruit in moderation is on the list of allowable foods. Grapefruit has a low glycemic index and is therefore converted into sugar in the body slower than say, a banana. Other plans, which are even less restrictive, let you have more fruit. You can check them out by clicking on the link on the right "Which LC Plan is right for me?"

I used to like grapefruit, and I was just thinking about it the other day. Then I remebered how I liked it, with tons of suger poured all over the top of it. Im not sure thats gonna fit into my LC way of life.

Did bring a smile to my face though when I was remebering how a grapefruit tasted, and realized all I remebered was the taste of the suger.
