Default Centrum has Starch?

I'm new to the world of LC and to this forum. My fiance and I are both starting on Atkins. I went and bought a large bottle of the standard Centrum to use as the primary supplement, and after I got the bottle home I read that it contains starch and some other disallowed ingredients (one of the sugars, I believe). I've heard that Centrum is a recommended multi-vitamin. Is it because folks mistakenly thought it did not contain the disallowed ingredients, or is it because the quantities are negligible and aren't of concern. If a supplement contains starch (e.g. a Vitamin C rose-hip supplement), is the amount assumed to be too little to worry about, perhaps half a gram of carb?

I don't want to find myself diminishing the keto affect owing to a handful of supplements raising the carb count; but I also don't want to stress over little things, hoping instead to save my stress for those bigger temptations.

Thanks for your help... and this is a great forum.

I don't know for sure, but I would think the small amount of starch in a vitamin tablet would be negligable. I noticed my vitamins have some too, and my folic acid supplement has rice starch or somesuch in it. It didn't effect me in the long run of losing weight. Others have asked about communion wafers and the like, and the idea is that little bit would have a negligable impact, that shouldn't effect you too much.

Default Don't sweat the teeny tiny small stuff

Yes, insignificant carbs in vitamins with starch - will not significantly alter blood sugar too small quantity - my pharmacist says he recommends regular vitamins to everyone, even diabetics.

Think of it this way ...eat an oreo cookie, want another? That's what significant insulin release feels like. Now eat a vitamin - want another?

Get it?

For the technically inclined perfectionists here, not that I'm one of THOSE .... I weighed my super multi's on my digital postal scale (it measures to 1 gram) So, I piled on 10 tablets ... I got 18 grams ... So I knew that one tablet weighs 1.8 grams. When I weighed one tablet, I got 2 grams

Then, I added up all the vitamins and content. Got 1.2g. Then it said in a base of various nutrients, etc ... all these fiber and vegetable complex. I take many supplements every day. Quite a few are oils, so I know zero carbs. My calcium and minerals are starch and sugar free. I guesstimate one whole gram of carbs total for my vitamin supplements. No more than that.

nsmith is right ... do your vitamin pills trigger cravings??

My suggestion for next time ... choose a brand that specifically says on the label that it has no added starch, sugar or dairy/ lactose. Quest, Natural Factors, Jamieson or Swiss Naturals are good brands to look for that are commonly available. There are others too
