Thanks for a very informative post, Karen! Truly amazing how politics, not true science, determined the current dietary recommendations that the majority of Americans (as well as much of the rest of the world) now follow. I'd also be willing to bet that any scientific studies that contradict current popular thinking don't get a lot of media attention except in a negative way which is truly sad because the health of so many people is on the line here.
