Unhappy My throat!! I need a cough drop!!

I am getting sick and my throat is terribly sore. I am doing Atkins and he says in his book that cough drops are bad!! Is there a way to find sugar-free cough drops and how exactly do I count them in my carbo-counting.

Thanks!!

Laura, in the "general health" subforum I posted a thread with a list of over 100 medications that you can get and their carb count. I'm sure there were cough drops in the list.

I'd count the carbs (if there are any) toward your daily total (but I would allow myself some leeway - you're sick, not a saint )

I hope you're feeling better soon!
Nat

Big second there! Try to find a S/F cough drop. If you can, great. If not, get well first and then deal with getting back in the LC way rigidly after that. While you are sick your metabolism is going to be a bit wacky anyway and the total amount of carbs that you are going to get from a few days of cough drops is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

Hope you get to feeling better.

Talking

Halls has a sugar-free cherry coughdrop that they sell just about everywhere. Call around before you go to the store though, as a few places don't have it, from my experience.

Even without the carbs, sugar-free cough drops are still better. When I was a smoker, I had a constant nagging cough and used to live on cough drops; I always bought the sugar-free ones, not because I cared much about sugar or carbs or calories or anything like that back then....but the sugary cough drops coated my teeth like a sweater! Gross (sugar is sooooo gross).

Get well soon!! And don't worry so much about the carbs right now, Nat and wbahn are right; just try to stick to low carb food. Feed your body what it needs, and get some Vitamin C and Zinc while you're at it!
