Angry It's one thing after another..coincidence???

Gee whiz, I feel like a hypochondriac!!! But really it HAS been one thing after another since I started Atkins. I HAVE to wonder if this is too hard on my body for some weird reason.

I've been dealing with a chronic low-grade sinus infection all winter and don't seem to be able to shake it. I get REALLY tired and achy every few days for what seems to me to be no good reason, and then about a week ago I had what I thought was a bit of stomach flu or food poisoning -- cramps and diarrhea. but it hasn't gone away!!! That was a week ago Saturday and I'm still getting cramps everytime I eat something. Sometimes it's worse than others. My stomach feels as if I've got a heavy, hot ball in it. If I can burp I feel a little better. Sorry to be so gross.

I'm actually wondering if I've poisoned myself with rancid Udo's oil. When I first got it a couple of weeks ago I thiught it had an unusually sharp aftertaste. By Friday a week ago I thought there was definitely something wrong with it so I threw it out.

Has anyone else experience anything like this?

Sorry for the moaning and groaning, but I just want to feel good!!!

Joanna

JOANNA

SORRY TO READ THAT YOU ARE FEELING SO POORLY, AND HOPE THAT GETS BETTER SOON!

LOOKED AT YOUR JOURNAL, BUT YOU HAVEN'T PUT ANYTHING IN FOR THE PAST WEEK AND A HALF. HAVE YOU CHANGED YOUR EATING HABITS IN THAT TIME?? OR YOUR CONSUMPTION OF WINE? OR OTHER MIXED DRINKS?

I WILL SAY THAT HERE ON THE EAST COAST THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN ILL IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! AND MANY LIKE MY KIDS JUST CAN'T SEEM TO SHAKE IT THIS YEAR, SO PERHAPS IT IS "JUST IN THE AIR"

SORRY TO NOT OFFER MUCH HELP, BUT I DO HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON! AND I WOULD NOT GIVE UP ON THIS WOL, AS YOU SEEM TO HAVE LIKED IT BASED ON MUCH OF YOUR JOURNAL UNLESS YOU ARE SURE IT IS THE CULPRIT. ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING BETTER?

SUSAN

Joanna, I think you should visit your doctor to be on the safe side. Yes, you could be feeling the effects of food poisoning - or rancid oil poisoning. You could also have a virus. It might even be a food intolerance - often these things are masked by the carbs we eat and when they are removed from the equation our sensitivities flare up. I'd get checked out though - just to be on the safe side.

I hope you're feeling better soon

Nat

I think you should definitely go to your doctor as soon as possible. That "heavy hot ball in the stomach' feeling is highly unlikely to have come from low-carbing. It may very well be a virus but it should be checked out right away. If you notice in the bathroom that your stool (bowel movement) is very dark or black in color, go to emergency at the hospital. It could be an ulcer bleed. I hope that it is just a virus, but don't take chances.

Wishing you the best.

Thanks all, for your replies. Of course I'm feeling better today than I have in the last ten. But I will watch it.

I guess I'm leery about going to see my doctor about yet another fuzzy set of symptoms. I went through a gamut of tests to try to find out what was causing my insides so much trouble a couple of years ago. After it all the diagnosis was irritable bowel, which really is like saying: "you get headaches". Most of the trouble clears up when I avoid grains, but since I don't have celiac disease, the established medical community doesn't like that answer. Too simple? They don't understand it so it can't be the cause?

So I'll treat my stomach carefully and try not to get so wound up about it all. Once again, thanks.

Joanna
