Default Does anyone always gain weight w/ TOM?

Alright...I'm not sure if I'm mental and just making excuses or if this really does happen. I've been on Atkins for 4 months now and I was on the pill up until a month ago (I missed a bunch so just went off the cycle). Well, I just got my first TOM after this and besides that my cramps are out of control and that TOM is really mad, I GAINED 3 LBS I haven't eaten anything bad for 8 days (I had a little episode with Fritos) - could it take that long for it to show up? I feel a little bloated, but by no means 3 lbs heavier...I can't believe it. I have never gained consistently on Atkins, I maybe shot up a lb. here and there, but this is crazy

If anyone has these sorts of problems, I would love to hear about them. And if you do gain w/ Tom, how long until the weight goes away? I mean, I've been getting on the scale each morning w/ my fingers crossed and nothing has budged .

I was contemplating whether maybe my bod has decided it hates caffine...b/c I haven't had any problems with that so far and Atkins says it's a nono.

Thanks for any info,
Erin

I always gain 4 pounds at TOM. The good news? Before LC, it was more like 10.

Default and the sad news is...

it happens to most women. As if life wasn't hard enough during TOM!

However, I don't know if I personally gain or not. I wouldn't dare go near a scale during that time. No telling what could happen to the scale and the people around me!

Don't fret it too much,K? It's just water weight . It goes away and usually tows a few more along with it.

You are not going crazy.... I have gained 3.5 lbs the first day of my period.. and it is making me very cranky...

I have been trying to drink lots of water and stay away from nuts, and any caffeine.

I hope our weigh goes away very quickly with a big whoosh..

You can't gain three, five, seven pounds of fat overnight. Water retention comes, and water retention goes. It's just water!

Can anyone explain to me why it causes so many women to become upset?

Smile Oh Yesssss - Definitely

I take my weight (according to the scales) with a big pinch of salt because it definitely varies around TOM.

lowcarbQT put it most eloquently!! ... no telling what could happen ..

Erin it is not difficult to become totally obsessive about PMT and TOM when trying to figure out what is the culprit. I have made a conscious decision NOT to think about it anymore.

Be patient and loving with yourself and just take each day as it comes, making the most of it to the best of your ability AT THE TIME.

Take care.

1. Because our hormones are causing us to think emotionally not realistically.

2. Becuase we have been working hard to lose pounds, and then overnight, they are back there.

3. Because until we are experienced enough to learn this is routine, we don't know NOT to get upset by it.

4. Retaining water and TOM makes you feel physically miserable. I usually go up 5-6 pounds.

i'm sure there are SOOOO many more reasons

Default Thr reason I got upset was...

I really thought that I had gained that weight...I've never had this kind of experience with Tom b/c I was always on the pill and had little to no Tom at all. I'm still undecided on whether I really gained the weight or if it's water weight. We'll see soon enough. For this morning however, I stayed away from the scale...lol.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Smile My thoughts

I could gain up to 10lbs of water before my TOM so I found if I drink an extra liter of water it forces the water out. Nowadays I only gain a pound or 2 of water. Try it!

What about menopause? I think I am getting there. I never know when TOM is comming for a visit. The last couple of times I actually lost weight when TOM came so he is not as unwelcome as he used to be!

I am not sure if you ladies want to hear this or not but i am really baffled because usually my lowest weight is during TOM and the week after TOM. i wonder why that is? is it because i am on the pill? and the 3-5 pound weight fluctuation? i don't have that either. again, is it because of the pill?
