Question Different Types of Scales

I have been contemplating buying a new scale, even though I know they are all Evil.... The scale I have now is very old and I don't think it is very accurate... my fear is that if I get a new one it will tell me I'm 10 lbs more than I think I am

I was thinking of a digital scale, but I'm not sure what kind. Would love to hear the what you gals/guys have found to be nice reliable scales..

Also, do any of you have the scales that measure body fat? How does this really work, or do you just program it with your height and weight etc..

Thanks so much

Smile Hi doula!

I think you should go to London Drugs (where they have a huge selection of scales, weigh yourself on each one, and purchase the scale that gives you the lowest number.

At least, that's what I'd do .....

I bought a digital scale at London Drugs that I'm completely happy with. It's a Health o Meter.

You can find the type of scale that tells you body fat at Fitness Depot.

I have a Health-o-Meter digital scale as well -- strain gauge mechanism, rahter than tension spring. I've found it to be accurate with my dr's office scale. I also find I get consistent readings, unlike my preivous scale, also digital, but a cheapie .. I could get on it three times in a row, and get 3 different results.

Got it at Canadian Tire; they had a decent selection, including the Tanita bodyfat scale.

I have a Tanita scale with the body fat measurement and I love it. Mainly for the accuracy and consistency. They are not completely accurate when it comes to body fat% but I still think it is a great scale and am glad I bought it.

I got it on sale at Canadian Tire but they have them at Zellers now too.

I looked all over the place (Zellers, Canadian Tire, Sears, London Drugs & Wal Mart).

Before I purchased I weighed myself at the doctor's office (on the step on scale that has real weights) so that I had an accurate gauge as I tried out the different scales at the stores.

Ended up buying one at WalMart. It is a digital scale that shows half pounds. It has a lithium battery so won't need replacing in the forseeable future. It is consistent (I weigh every so often at the Drs. office) and best of all it only cost $40.

I had wanted one of the Tanita scales that show body fat % but I had read a lot about how unreliable they are so I saved my money!

Well I did it.... bought my new Health o Meter Ever weight scale...

It's 1.5 lbs off from my old one... I won't change my stats till I get a real weight tommorrow morning... still makes me cranky that I am a couple lbs away from my 179 mark... oh well.. at least it wasnt 20 lbs off like I feared...

thanks for all the advice..
