Question Campbell's Soups?

Are they allowed? My two thoughts are: pork chops fried and simmered in mushroom soup, and... cheddar cheese soup, undiluted, makes a wonderful sauce. And then of course there is cheese and broccoli soup!

I'm not a big soup eater, but my sweetie really is. I just like to use them as sauces!

Thanks!

The only one I use is the ready to serve cream of mushroom. NOT the condensed one. I use it as soup, but mostly as a sauce, it's pretty thick.

It has 7.6g carbs / cup including 3.6g fibre.

Unhappy Thanks for the info

I actually had to stop at the grocery store on my way home from work today, so I scanned the soup aisle. Holy cow, I had no idea there were so many carbs in soup! I can live without it, I think!

Thanks again!

A wise choice dizz!

You can make your own sauces with mushrooms, tomatoes, heavy cream and cheese. Canned soup is convenient, but not the best choice for a low-carber.

Thumbs down MSG alert

Many canned soups also have MSG, especially mushroom. According to the Drs. Eades, MSG kills off brain cells. (and I have so few left as it is!)

Talking Thanks for the warning!

Eeeek!! I haven't a cell to spare!! Thanks for the warning! MSG gives me the worst headaches in the world!

Let me ask you another question, since I'm here. I had lunch with dad yesterday, who is also a low-carber, and has been for a couple of years now. We had this wonderful lunch that came with breaded and deep-fried mushrooms. After lunch I ended up with a pretty brutal headache! Do you suppose that is because of the breading? I haven't had any bread in two weeks, and just can't help but wonder if I have an intolerance that quickly!

Thanks again!

Dizzy

Talking Headaches

Short answer: probably yes.

Medium answer: the Drs. Eades have linked dietary factors such as hig-carb, ALA, and trans fatty acids to unbalanced eicosanoid production resulting in, among other nasty things, headaches. Please note, there is not universal agreement on the effect of eicosanoids, but it works for me.
