Default Good-bye to 2001; wrap up of accomplishments

I'd love to read a good, long list of low carb successes. What did you accomplish this year?

I lost 15 pounds. (Not weight-related, but I also quit taking suphedrine for sinus problems. I'd been taking 8 pills a day for ten years!!!)

I have lost 25 pounds.
I have stopped taking Wellbutrin.
I have ended a not-so-great relationship of 11 years.

Bright blessings to everyone in the coming year. May your days be filled with love and laughter.

learned that I really am carb addicted and need to stay off sugar/grains
thought a lot about where my "using carbs as drugs" habits came from
tried very intense weightlifting and realized the results aren't worth the risks for me
perfected a jerky recipe
learned to like several new veggies
lost 25 pounds and 3 sizes
came a long way toward understanding what "way of life" means

Default My Accomplishments

I had the courage to quit a job/company that I was great at and challenged but treated very awful. Toward the end, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't keep food down, I was losing my hair (not good for a 33 year old woman), and I wasn't me anymore. I realize now that I left not because I failed but because I deserve better. And now I have something better. (Raspberries to them!!)

I started a new job paying 25% more and only expects 40 hours a week out of me (instead of 60-70).

I started exercising --- and now I'm running 7-8 miles in an hour or so 3 times a week. (former Army officer)

I started the Atkins program and lost 25 pounds. It inspired me to develop good habits like drinking 64 oz of water every day, exercising, cutting out SUGAR (I am SUCH an addict and cannot let my guard down yet) and other bad carbs, and eating salads daily. What a turnaround!!

I took swimming lessons after years of just talking about it.

I went to Aruba and looked darn good in a bikini---who'd ever think THAT was possible?

I am now the lowest weight I've ever been in my adult life.

Here's to many more years of health and vitality for us all! Happy New Year!

K.

I regained control and learned how to trust myself again. This has been a wonderful year. It's not one of my accomplishments, but I am greatful for the good health that LCing has brought into John's life - he is a different man and it's fantastic.

I lost 19 pounds

I haven't had a regular wake-up, or all day headache, or a migraine in almost 6 weeks.

My husband retired early (he's 52), and instead of me spending 5 or 6 hours an evening on the computer managing websites, we are spending more quality time together and loving every minute of it.

I am ready to quit smoking. Wednesday is the big day, once I start back to work.

I've made a couple of new friends here, and look forward every day to their progress, their challenges and their words of wisdom.

I learned about patience, and not to be so hard on the people around me.

2001 was a biggie for me- The first year of the rest of my life, you could say. It was my first year after treatment for cancer in 2000.

I met a guy over the internet, fell in love and got engaged, we bought a house and have 2 dogs and 2 cats.

It was also the first year I actually fulfilled my new years resolution to get control of my eating and lose weight. I've lost 15 lb and am nearly at goal.

I am so much happier and at peace with myself.

How does it get any better than this?

I lost 20 pounds.

A major accomplishment for me and since , it only crept up 1 or 2 pounds - I did not go all the way back to start weight!

I learned a great deal about myself : determination,
ability to change and willingness to do the changes.

I learned to be honest with strangers and to be helpful to the best of my ability as well. I learned to read, study and poke around on all kinds of sites for more information.

I learned : I AM NOT PERFECT AND NEVER WILL BE --- TIME TO GIVE PERFECTION A REST! A most valuable lesson for me personally.

Patience, understanding, controll frustration and best of all, the willingness to try, try, try and TRY again.

Happy New Year everyone -- thanks for everything, the support, encouragement and help.

A Thin Me ---

Sure, I lost 45 lbs, however the weightloss is incomparable to quitting smoking. Yet, the weightloss success was the motivator for quiting smoking. I doubt if I would have quit if I didn't have my weight issues under control.

BTW.. Alto, I noticed something you said,

Would love to discuss this with you, I quit taking decongestants and antihistamines today, I want to find alternative ways of dealing with my sinus problems. I'm willing and ready to listen to advice, since you have travelled the road already. I know it's a bit of an off-topic, but I do think it is allergy related and relevant to low carb WOE

Default Coming to terms

I came to terms with the fact that I REALLY needed to re-invent myself. I was displaying all the diabetic symptoms, but was too afraid to get tested. My dad and sister are diabetic (my dad inject insulin, my sister has tabs). I was determined not to follow in their footsteps. After almost 2 weeks on this WOE I tested in the normal range.

I feel so much better. My sweats (due to high blood pressure and elevated body temperature) have gone. Summer here in Sydney is hot enough without having to deal with high body temperature and beads of perspiration all the time (not too attractive either).

Oh, and it seems I am no longer allergic to my 9 month old kitten (named Monster, and it suits him).

I met a wonderful man (who I think will love me no matter how heavy or light I am) and I had a VERY successful year professionally.

Life's good, and getting better

Kim

Congratulations to everyone! And a reply to zellie:

Zellie, I would get frequent ear infections, and was always stuffy. A doctor prescribed suphedrine when it first came out, and I just kept taking it -- two pills every four hours. If I stopped, I'd get an ear infection. I started working with a doctor on a project, and mentioned this, and she practically ordered me to stop taking it -- it can raise blood pressure. She suggested getting Afrin (a nasal spray). I did. I also got a humidifier for my bedroom, just a cheap thing from the drug store. I'm still stuffy, but (knockwood) haven't had an ear infection. It's been about a year.
