Default Calories for NHE carb up

I know NHE does not advocate counting calories, and I'm pretty much not. But I had my first carb up last night. I find that when I eat protein and fat and non-starchy veggies I get full on a small amount of food. When it comes ot eating carby stuff I'm a bottomless pit. I ate pasta, sweet potato, fat free waffles and some jelly bellies. I did add about 1 tbsp butter amongst the things to help keep me full. But I know I consumed a very large amount of calories. Obviously I want to keep this more in check in the future, but should this be a big issue? I know he says there is no limit to the # of carbs...I'm assuming that if you're eating something fat free and almost protein free this means unlimited calories? Either way, I'm happy to be LC again today!

It is unlimited. Although I feel like I have to keep it in check.
If you overstuff that isnb't good though.

Cindy, you know I have not read the book. That said, I don't think calories in carbup matter. I doubt you could eat 3 500 calories at your carbup. The waffles sound delish. Just wondering did you have the <20g protein from a meat/fish source?

Don't worry someone wise will come along and answer you.

Okay jag replied.

Red,

I didn't have any extra protein. He really doesn't reccomend it at a carb up...says it just fills you up so you won't be able to eat as many carbs. I think my fat was 12 grams? He does say it's ok to have up to 20 and that it will help satiate you.

Jag - Thanx. I do think my calories were almost 1000! Gotta keep that in check for sure next time!! I can sure eat when I want to!! LOL! Usually I can be fine eat 1200 in a day. (though I'm making sure I don't do that right now)

I wouln't worry about cals - just pay attention to the grams of carb, to find a level that works for you. I think about 100g is the right amount for me.
