Default saw the doctor last week

When I had my annual physical my doctor told me my cholesterol was high-- over 250. But she said she wasn't worried about it because my HDL and LDL readings are in a good ratio. I asked her if I should be doing anything about it and she said no. My triglycerides were quite low, around 150. I've been low-carbing since June, so that's about six months. Has anyone else had such a cholesterol reading? Does anyone know anything about this?

Default wonder why

I am sorry that you had a high chol. check. I am sure if your doctor said not to worry than you shouldn't. I am confused why so many people on this forum are getting high results. That worries me. It just isn't at all what atkins says should happen. I have heard more people say they are getting bad readings from their doctor than good.

I have only been on ther plan for 3 months. My last visit to the doctor was good and my cholesterol was 170. But it had never been high so I don't have much to compare it too, as a matter of fact it was only the 2nd time I have had it taken. I am 29 and Insurance doesn't really want to flip the bill for it inless there is a problem that would point to high cholesterol.

Anyway, glad your other numbers were good.

I have the same kind of chol. reading. It is 250, which is borderline high risk. My doctor told me the same thing - since my ratio of "good" and "bad" chol. was so good, not to worry. He did, however, want to recheck me in 6 months. Not a bad idea in your case.

He told me that my "good" chol. was very high probably since I exercise quite regularly. More incentive for me to excerise Otherwise, I would have to take regular medicine to bring the chol. down.

Not what I wanted to do.

Hope this helps.

Chris
