Default Do you pack your own low carb snacks when you go to the movies?

The prices at the movie snack stands are outrageous. Not to mention the fact they don't have anything for us that are low carbing.

I'm curious what everyone else takes when they go to the movies.

When I took my son to see Shrek2, which my son loved by the way, I packed some low carb *M&M* like snack. It was nice not to feel leftout. I got us a diet soda and packed him some popcorn in my pocketbook.

We will be seeing two movies in Jun, Harry Potter 3 and Garfield. I'm looking forward to it, but running out of ideas for snacks to take. LOL.

I generally bring an Atkins Advantage bar or some nuts. Seems to do the trick.

I think next time I am going to pack a bag of those soy chips. The sour cream one I had the other day was pretty good. Now if I can just get my son to eat them, he'll have a more healthly replacement for the potato chips he loves so much. I only get him those every once in a while though.

Deluxe Mixed nuts... or Almonds, and a couple LC chocolate bars without the SA effects.
My son and I just went to see Van Helsing... his choice, he's 11. It was nice to have snacks, all they had at the concession was some Russel Stover LC candy... We'd have been sick(you know what I mean) before the movie was over.

We're also eagerly awaiting HP-3, and the next BOOK.

=)

I love the Harry Potter books. I personally think Sirus Black is still alive and kicking after the last book. Gut hunch here. It's so cool watching these children grow up on screen, quite literally.

Wow this has been my biggest issue as of late -- I cannot believe the outlandish prices movie theatres can get away with. If I had to imagine what a family of 4 would have to spend to see a movie, along with the various snacks that invariably they end up wanting, it makes me think that a dinner at an expensive restaurants starts looking rather cheap.

In my case I always get either a large tea or even coffee to drink. I try to avoid those massive tubs of pop even though they do offer the diet ones. I remember years ago I used to go to Subway and get myself a huge sub and then a bottle of pop and sneak that in. Now I no longer bring in a sub but I have been known to stop at Wendy's on the way there and grab a few Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers (no bun) and eat those while watching the movie. I've brought in nuts before (the food not my friends) but I have noticed that whatever I bring with me I will eat to the very end -- thus a bag of nuts ends up being rather dangerous.

If all fails a bottle of water does the trick... I just keep taking swigs out of it... keeps me busy and away from the idea of M&Ms and such.

PS loved Shrek2 myself... Antonio Banderas as the "cat" was awesome... out-staged everyone else

I always bring our own snacks whether it's a low-carb Endulge bar for me or some regular treats for the kids. The theater is next door to a Target store and we always stop there first. At 7.50-8.50 a ticket I'm not going to pay $3 for a candy bar! However, I do look like I've put my 30 lbs back on when I walk in the door as the big pockets in my coat are stuffed full!

I ALWAYS take my own movie snacks. I eat light at whatever meal precedes the movie, then take something I like--swiss cheese cubes, Atkins bars, whatever, and limit the quantity. Being a woman, I just switch to a tote bag instead of my usual purse, and no one is the wiser! I also take my own bottle of water!!

Wow - everyone posted great suggestions!

I would add homemade, sugarfree jerky to the list. I also like the deluxe mixed nuts, but like someone else said - limit the quantity because it is too easy to eat everything in the bag.

If you wanted to be really creative, you could bring just about anything you would normally snack on at home: meat and cheese roll ups, devilled eggs. All you need is a baggy

Oh, and of course, there's pork rinds (only during the really loud scenes, though!)

To be honest, no, but I wish I did.

In fact, I think smoked almonds, a round of cheese and a Diet Rite would pack really well.

Smoked almonds all the way. Add a water or diet pop and the only thing I am missing out on is the empty feeling my wallet used to have after buying popcorn at the movies.

PS. They caught me once, I told them I needed them for my diet and until the day they sell nuts without chocolate all over them, I would continue to provide my own. They agreed.

What does the "sa" stand for. I can't figure that one out.
