Default Idea for Baby Shower Treat

Hi everyone! I was hoping to pick your brains...I'm going to an evening baby shower and we've all been asked to bring an appetizer or dessert. Does anyone have any suggestions for me for a yummy low carb dish I could bring? I also wanted it to be suited to the evening idea since it's not the normal Sunday afternoon shower. Since I'm hosting a Sunday afternoon baby shower in 2 weeks, I don't want to bring some of the same things I'll be serving at that one - there will be a lot of the same people there. I know it doesn't really matter, but I just thought I'd see if anyone had any cool ideas for me! Thanks!

Lily

Make the Tiramisu but instead uf using rum, espresso and cocoa to layer it, put a few sliced strawberries between the layers. Add some grated lemon rind to the mascarpone mixture and finish it off with whipped cream, more strawberries and toasted, sliced almonds.

Excellent suggestions! Thank you Lily, Sharpy & Karen. I think I'll make the Tiramisu! After you said the words, Karen, I thought PERFECT - YES! It'll be the perfect dessert to go with an after dinner type shower. I'll let you know how it turns out (maybe I'll take a picture too!!)

Thanks for the other suggestions too...I'm going to add the Deviled Eggs and jello-coolwhip-cheesecakes to my afternoon shower that I'm hosting in 2 weeks!

Default My First Tiramisu!

It seems to have turned out GREAT! The baby shower is tomorrow night, so I have it chilling in the fridge right now. DH is sniffling because he won't get to try a piece! LOL!! I'll have to make it again for him. Thanks Karen!

Looks groovy. Did you use cocoa in between the layers?

What a great idea Karen! OMG that looks wonderful and so not "diet / low carb" food! I think I could even "trick" my DH with that one!

Hi Karen! Yes, I did sprinkle a bit of cocoa between the layers. I put the "ladyfinger strips" on the bottom, then the marscapone mixture, then cocoa powder sprinkled and toasted almonds, then more ladyfingers, marscapone mixture, sprinkled cocoa powder, almonds then sliced strawberries. I can't wait to take it tonight!

Thanks again for the help!
Lily
