Just asking. I already know what I am going to do...But ...
DH and I are going on a 9 day cruise in about 3 1/2 weeks. You know what the food is like on a cruise. What would you do. (ie: To heck with the carbs, Gorge, maintain WOE, attack the desserts, or anything else).

Good question! I am thankful that the hubby and I don't have a vacation planned until December because I would love to say that I would stick to this WOE, but in all honesty, I think I would have to say that I would want to partake of the goodies. I would hope that I could make the best choices, not go crazy, and only eat something if it REALLY spoke to me, but I couldn't promise strict adherance to this WOE on a special vacation and especially with the neverending cruise food choices. Best of luck with this!! Let us know what you have decided too - just curious

Cruises have a LOT of food, lunch layouts include sandwich stuff, just eat the meat/cheese & salads, breakfast? that's easy, bacon, eggs, sausage, cheese. Dinner? Skip the alcohol and feast on lobster, beef, chicken & vegetables. Cruise ships are great for low-carbing because there's so much FOOD. Yes there is lots of other stuff too, but you're strong and can conquer it..................

Have a great time!

If the past four days at the volleyball tournament are any indication I would probably not stick totally to lo-carb. There would be lots of meat, veggies, etc on the cruise so I wouldn't go nuts but if there was something that looked interesting I would probably try it.

I'm paying big bucks for my cruise and if there is food there that I've never tried before and likely will never try again, I'll probably go for a small spoonful of it just to see what it's like.

I think if I eat reasonable amounts of food (stay within my daily calorie allotment) and get lots of exercise touring the ports I should be fine weight-wise and if not there is always induction when I get back . Oh by the way I also am going on a cruise in August to Alaska to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary.

Oh boy! Tough one. I may not be the best to give advice, as I totally let loose on my honeymoon in Hawaii in September last year. I knew it was my only honeymoon and I wanted to have those sweet Hawaiian treats. A once in a lifetime thing for me. I struggled getting back on track though, and that was the price I paid.

As for your cruise, I agree that there are sooo many choices, you probably can easily fill up on great low-carb stuff before you get to the pastry table. And if you do cheat, cheat in moderation, don't open up the flood gates like I did in Hawaii!

You said you knew what you were going to do? You gonna tell us?

Good luck and Enjoy!!!

Emily

I just got back from a vacation to Disney, and I had decided before I go that I wasn't going to worry about it. I would do the best I could, but I wasn't going to beat myself up if I decided to have a treat.

Things went well, I had a treat when I wanted one, and overall I made good choices. I actually lost a pound while we were there!!

Just have a great time, and don't worry!!

I did Vegas last November and was able to maintain. With all the good food on a cruise, you should be ok. I wouldn't worry about losing more fat, but maintaining is probably the right way to go. If you decide to splurge, try to make good choices, getting the lowest carb count you can. For example, having cheese cake instead of having regular pie or cake, or a sweet potato instead of a baked potato.

Good luck!

I just came back from a week in Jamaica, and I maintained my weight even though I ate a ton of food, and drank enough alcohol to float a small yacht.
I just stuck to the protein and veggies, ate a huge omelet for breakfast, and stayed away from the sugary stuff.
It's not that hard! I mean, would you rather have a nice piece of fish or a glutinous old potato?
I had told myself that, if I slipped, I would just pick myself up and carry on. But I only had half a dessert the whole week.

Personally I think once you get home you'll regret it and may have lost any recent progress. I wouldn't think it's worth it. There are much better parts of a cruise than just the food. Enjoy those more and think less of food.

I would eat all I could of allowed foods and try to make any indulgence or cheat be in a CAD meal to try to stave off sugar cravings. I could probably pass on lots of the stuff and would remember there are work-out rooms for when I'd indulge. Marty

Keep in mind that this is not a diet--it is a way of eating. This is your way of eating for the rest of your life. Make it enjoyable not a life sentence. Are you planning to live the rest of your life without a single indulgence? I think not--just remember not to go wild and eat everything in site. Remember portion control! Don't feel you need to eat just because it is available and included in the cruise price. When I think of the cost of doctor visits, medicines (blood pressure and colesterol lowering) for the past years not to mention the higher cost of plus size clothing, I head to the gym with a water bottle.
Enjoy vacation but remember you are in control of what you eat--the food does not control you!
