Default Erythritol Anyone??

Hi Guys!
I just came back from my local LC store to get some ketchup & Davinci Syrup and I came upon an interesting product. I have been off the lc sweets due to the sugar alcohol dilemma and the fact that it might be a staller for me ...anyhoo...I came across a product called "CarbSlim Peanut Butter Crunch Bites". They're little "crunchy, chocolate flavor crisps covered in the finest sugar free peanut butter and sugar free milk chocolate.(so says the description on the box) I noticed the package had the little "Splenda" logo so I had to take a look. The box claims 0 carbs (total carb 14g. -6g fiber and -8g erythritol) It states, and I quote, "...CarbSlim Bites features the latest in sweetening technology. Sweetened with a breakthrough system that utilizes Splenda and erythritol, CarbSlim Bites delivers candy sweetness without the calories and digestive upset commonly associated with other sweetners. With CarbSlim Bites, you can finally indulge yourself in sweet candy bliss anytime, totally guilt free!" Well, talk about a sales pitch, it made me really curious so...I bought a box. I had a couple and they're ok but I could never go crazy on them. I am more interested in seeing if anyone has tried anything else with this SA and what their experience was. Appreciate any feedback!!

It's supposed to be MUCH better than the other sugar alcohols(and less "countable" ), but I couldn't bring myself to spend almost $3 for a wee little box of them...

Yeah, I was a little surprised at the cha-ching for such few. They are really not that good so I threw them in the cupboard in case I really want something sweet at some point. I did a bit of reading and it looks like this stuff would be the lesser evil of all the SA's I've tried. Do you know of any other products that are made with this stuff? Just a plain chocolate bar would be nice...

I can't handle malitol AT ALL, not even what is called a serving size and the erythritol doesn't bother me. I had a zCarb bar today...the best!

I love the Hershey 1 carb bars that contain erythritol. Too bad they're so small though.

The Z-Carb bars also contain erythritol, as well as something that might be called EAS Perfection (can't remember the name).

I'm not sure what fractionated palm oil is, or whether it's bad for you or not, but it's in those Carb Slim bites. Anyone know what it is?

Are the Zcarb bars protein bars or more of a candy bar? And does anyone know where I can get them in Canada?

Dunno if this will help anybody, but....

I mix a tablespoon of natural pb with a shot of heavy whipping cream, teaspoon of splenda, and a drop of vanilla.

Stir until thick, and lick off the spoon.

It is to DIE for.

Also unbelievably delicious with the thick cream that rises to the top of a can of coconut milk instead of the whipping cream.

Either way - satisfies a sweet tooth, tases like you're eating ICING, and - wait for it - is actually GOOD for you! EFAs in the PB, medium chain triglycerides in the coconut fat, and no sugar alcohol.

That would be good, but impractical for throwing in my purse I'd also have to engineer a chocolate variation.

Maximus-- nope. Sweet-n-low is saccharine and Equal is Aspartame. If I couldn't get Splenda, I'd choose Sweet-n-Low next, although it's bitter to me, and Equal last. Equal doesn't hold up as well at high temps, and some people are worried about it causing problems.

Erythritol is good stuff. You can get it at Netrition.

When I bake, I use around 1/4 cup of erythritol and 1/2 cup of Splenda to replace 1 cup of sugar. I think it's just as sweet, with less sweetener and less aftertaste. No belly problems, either.
