Default Thanksgiving Lessons Learned

Well, it's over, thank goodness!!!
I told myself that after 3 weeks of earnest LCing that I could take the day off and have a carb-fest. And...I did. Mashed potatoes, pie, the whole nine. All was fine and dandy until about an hour after I ate. Then...the stomach problems kicked in. I swear, it was as though I had eaten poison for dinner. I have not been that ill in quite a while. So, the lesson learned is that carbs are NOT my friends, and that I cannot eat them in mass quantities anymore!
And, as a side note...they tasted good, but not great. Really...nothing was *that* phenomenal. I don't think I'll be tempted in the coming weeks, all I have to do is remember the stomachache.
I am thankful that Thanksgiving Dinner is OVER!!
Susan

Hi Susan, I've done what you've done before and it really is a shock to the system when you've been LCing for awhile and you decide to have a carbfest. It's satisfying to experience the upset stomach/head/body and to realise that it didn't even taste all that great though, it helps you remember the lesson and I'm sure you learnt yours!

I would have to agree with Mags, I did overdo it on Thanksgiving, and I don't intend to do it again anytime soon. What even shocked me was that I made pumpking cups. (kinda like pumpkin pie but no crust and splenda instead of sugar) Last time I made them they were too sweet so I cut down substantially on the sweetner. They were still too sweet this time as well.

[And, as a side note...they tasted good, but not great. Really...nothing was *that* phenomenal.]

I would agree nothing tasted as good as I remember it tasting. I wonder why that happens. Is it that our taste buds get reconditioned to what we are now eating?

Thanks for the replies, they make me feel better! Especially considering that the scale says I'm up 2 pounds...oh well, off to the gym anyway! Perfect rainy day activity!
