Personally, if I wanted to lie about the price of the bread, 5 dollar a loaf is still pretty high. I would have told him it was 3 something or other .

But after years of living with me, he knows to take any number I give him with a grain of salt! IF he accepted the 5 dollar price, I don't see why two dollars more will bother him.

Now going as far is putting the bread in a different bag, ok, that may be pushing the limit of a white lie a bit to much.

Be honest. Problem with telling a fib is you have to tell another to cover up the first one.
