Default Did adding vitamins & minerals help you?

I take nothing.... I have been reading a book on success at low carbing... The woman who wrote it suggests several things for slow losers. One of these things is adding supplements.... Please help, as I do not know where to start. Or what to take, or how much of whatever to take.

I have been doing this plan for 2 full months and have lost only 10 pounds. did lose a little more, but gained back two, and now I'm struggling trying to knock those back off.

SHe also reccommends.... weight training, walking, lots of water. Eliminating caffine (sp?) and maybe dairy.

OK, so today I dumped the reg. coffee for 1 C. decaf, with just 1 T. of cream. Also stopped adding the packet of splenda.

For breakfast I'll have an egg scrambled in butter.....(no hunger in the am)
for lunch, a chicken breast
for dinner a salad with O.Oil and lemon, and small steak
snack will probably be a couple of thin slices of cheese or a small burger.
I will make sure today that I relly up the water intake, and I'm closing my Salon from noon to 1pm and going out for a walk.

If none of this helps.... I might just go jump off a bridge! Oops... that won't work either.... no bridges around here

You should probably take as a minimum, a multivitamin and an additional calclum supplement.

Daily, I take a multi, calcium, b-complex, L-Carnitine, and a flaxseed oil capsule.

Definately take a multi-vitamin.
I also take chromium picolinate and echinacea.
Will stop the chromium when the bottle is gone though :-)

Thumbs up

Take daily a full multi-vitamin, if you are over 30, make sure the vitamin has no iron, you will pick up your iron in your diet. You are on track! Good luck, Stan

One-A-Day has a carb smart multivitamin out now that has more of what you need than the standard multivitamin since we miss out on some of the fruits and carbs that are good for us. It only costs about $7 and you only have to take it once a day. I also take L-Carnitine - supposedly helps to release fat through your urine. I read an article on it where lab tests were done on female dogs and they showed a loss of weight and fat %........I'm losing weight, so I'm happy. It runs anywhere from $9 -$25 per bottle depending on where you buy it from.

I didnt in the beginning, but was so tired that I added them and the energy is really great now. Here is my list.

1. Multi-Vitamin without iron
2. Extra Vitiamin C
3. B-Complex with Magnesium (for leg cramps as Multi only had trace amounts)
4. Calcium (as above)
5. Fiber package (psyllum husks)
6. Flaxseed oil (1 tbs to up my fat and help digestion/toilet)
7. Oil of Oregano
8. L-Carnitine
9. Q-10
10. Omega 3 oil capules

Probably need to see about some omega 6 stuff or a combo one.

I'm taking too many vitamins and supplements to list here (and you probably don't need everything I'm taking), but I think it would be a great idea to take a multi-vitamin everyday. I'm taking one by Oil of Olay which is formulated for "seniors"...well, people over 50 anyway. I am NOT a senior! lol

Another one I would suggest if you're having any energy problems is a B-complex. They help me a lot. I also take vitamin e, c, flax oil, omegas, calcium, chrominium pic, and on and on and on. >:-O

good lord!...um, i take calcium and magnesium. and i was taking a multivitamin but i ran out and haven't bought more. *sheepish look*

i see that most people are sucking down a pharmacy daily though, so maybe i need to add some supplements in?

at one point or another i did take flaxseed oil pills and CLA but didn't notice a difference with either so i just stopped. but um, is it all necessary? the calcium and magnesium are for me, because i get muscle spasms and i know exactly what the calcium and magnesium does, but nutritionists and anatomy & physiology folks have always preached that you can get necessary nutrients from your diet. and i certainly don't want to take pills for the sake of taking pills.

hrm, at any rate i know i'll have to get more multivitamins, but now i am considering adding in omega oils. but i wonder if you can get that from fish?

okay, there really is no point to this post, just ruminating on how few supplements i take

osuzana... from what you posted it doesnt seem like you're eating enough calories! that could stall you. also... eating more fat may increase your weight loss.
