Talking A Good Fibre Idea!

I've only been following Atkins for a few days now and almost immediately noticed a change in "bathroom routine" you might say. Here's a good tip - take 2-3 tablespoons of flax seeds once a day and just swallow them with water. There's only 34 carbs in 100 grams (that's A LOT of flax seeds!) so in 2-3 tablespoons you're barely getting any carbs at all yet all the fibre you need to stay regular

Just something to note: if one eats whole flax seeds, they pass undigested through you. This may facilitate your stool production, but you also get none of the value of the EFA's in flax. Ground flaxseed meal (keep it in the dark in the frig) is much better for you and achieves the same end.

I find the ground flax seed even better when I make a porridge of it. Put a coupld of heaping tablespoons in a heatproof bowl (china or pottery) and add boiling water. Stir in and let stand until it thickens, adding water as desired to make the right consistency. Then eat with Brown Sugar Twin powder and cream. Fit for a low-carb queen. And man, do things MOVE!

No need to "look" for it!! Just grind up some flax seeds.... an electric coffee grinder works wonders, I have also used a morter and pestel (sp?) to grind seeds, a bit of a work out but it works!! Flax meal is ground flax seeds... but only grind up what you need for the moment or else keep it in an air tight contained in the fridge, but not too long as it will go rancid !!!

Have you ever tried making a hot cereal with flax meal.
Heat 3/4 cup of water, add a sprinle of ciniman, splenda and a touch of salt. Add 2-3 T of ground flax seed and let it sit for 2 minutes. Tastes sort of like Cream of Wheat.
Keeps you regular too.
