Angry Gained weight by exercising

I am on day 9 on induction and I started exercising on day 7. I have started exercising using "Slim in 6", but I gained a pound. What is going on with that? I thought exercising is suppose to aid in weightloss. I am still dark purple using the ketone sticks, so I am sad. Can anyone tell me what is going on, should I stop exercising?

P.S. I have gained one pound and I'm scared that I might see another one. I don't want to give up.

Take your measurements, don't go by your scale. You probably have gained alittle bit of muscle. Muscle is more dense than fat and while you look slimmer you may weigh more. Don't stress, you may also have a little bit of water weight. Everyone fluctuates a lb or 2 everyday. Try to weigh in the AM too. Good luck!

Like the above poster stressed, don't worry about it.

Muscle is 1/3 as dense as fat, so it won't show as much.

Putting on muscle helps with weight loss, because you burn more calories throughout the day. It costs a lot more energy to maintain 20lbs of muscle than it does 20lbs of fat.

I would suggest going to once per week weighing if seeing fluctuations like this stress you out.

I'm only starting my third week of atkins, but I did notice that there were a couple days where the scale told me I gained one to two pounds, but then the next day it was gone again , plus lost additional weight. I agree with the others, dont sweat it.

I think I am going to start weighing myself weekly as was suggested , to avoid being discouraged by normal fluctuations. Maybe you could try that too.

Here is an even better suggestion... toss the scale! I think they just cause people to stress when you shoudln't be stressin! I just finally got sick of feeling good and thinking I lost weight and stepping on that damn thing and turning around and thinking I was fat again. I junked it.

Thank you all so much for the advice. I'm going to take the batteries out that thing. You all are right, I am obsessing over the scale. I even stepped on it today and saw that I lost what I said I gained.

Thank you
