Default Salad, Salad, go away...

K, guys...I have a question. Do you still do salads constantly on OWL. I am moving on...well I kinda have moved on to OWL and my normal lunch consists of salad and some sort of meat. Today I just cant eat the salad. I am sick of salad...at least the salad from home. I do fine at a restaurant, but man if I have one more salad for lunch I will just croak!! I would rather have other veggies. Am I missing something, or is that 'ok' if I count the carbs? I have always gotten great advice from you guys and I just dont want to find out any negative effects the hard way! Been there, done that!
TIA

Any of the allowed veggies are fine as long as you count the carbs.

I was burnt out on salads for lunch and started eating either fried cabbage with butter and bacon, or shredded cabbage with blue cheese dressing, bacon, cherry tomatoes and cucumber chunks instead.

Ditto to what potato said too. Any veggies are fine as long as you count the carbs for them.

For lunch I switch things up alot...I get sick of things easily. One thing that I do is make dinner and always make sure I have enough for lunch the next day.

If I buy pork chops, I get a package with three in them.

Something that I really love for lunchtime is...
Polish Kielbasa and some mock mashed potatoes.
One half head of cauliflower maded into Fauxtatoes will last for 3 days for me....they are good with PK.
Tuna fish is good tooo.

I eat for lunch what I would eat for dinner, just a smaller portions

DH has salad on Tuesday and Thursday for lunch and on M, W, and Fri he makes a sandwhich on LC natures own bread. He is on maintainence as he has lost all his weight (me I got 25 more to go)

I love salads and can't seem to tire of them. But nothing says you have to eat a salad. The other day I bought some fresh green beans and thought I would steam some for dinner. While I was washing them and getting ready to cook them I ate a few raw ones and decided I would pack them into 2 oz pkgs and bring them to work for a snack, just raw green beans. They were great and they break up the monotony.

Lately I've gotten into pepper boats. I cut up a whole pepper, then top the slices with a little chunk of cheese and a pepperoni slice. Yum boy!

Go ahead and mix it up. I looooooove muenster cheese, with rare roast beef, long leaves of romaine, and horseradish sauce, roll ups.

Salad doesn't necessarily have to have lettuce in it. I make salads with green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, cooked mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, maybe some meat or chicken. I can get all my vegges in on meal!

I also love the shredded cabbage you buy in the bags, I add pimemto olives and some Italian Dressing, its' like, yummy and very crunchy!

Thanks for all the advice/suggestions. That makes me feel better. I too would like to just make extra dinner for lunch the next day. Could it get any easier? I spend time making salads, then can hardly stand to eat them anymore. I will try to branch out more! Thanks again!

I love salad and I can't imagine ever getting tired of it. Not the way I make 'em anyway.

What folks said about other veggies is true. But perhaps your salad making technique needs a makeover?

I use baby greens (pre-washed) or spinach. About 1 ounce of goat cheese or a good blend of flavorful shreaded cheese. Toasted walnuts or peacans and I toss with a really good, italian type of dressing. It's gotta be good though! Sometimes I slice up a red bell pepper too.

Anyway, good luck with the veggies.

You should try some new recipes. I know there are some really good mock 'potato' salad (made with cauliflower), I tried a really good 2 bean salad (which was basically 3 bean salad just made without the kidney beans), oriental cucumber salad, and other non lettuce salads like that. Ones that aren't so lettuce based might make you feel like you have had a break from salads.

Default Jicama Salads

Try a Jicima salad, it's like eating a big water chestnut.

One Jicima Bulb
Mint
Black Pepper
Salt
Lime
Olive Oil

Cut the skin of a medium sized Jicama bulb, julienne into matchsticks
Cut up some fresh mint and add
Ditto Fresh Ground black pepper
some sea salt
squeeze in some lime juice
add some extra virgin olive oil

Yum! Yum!

Also: Jicama/Avocado/Grapefruit Salad

Cut the skin of a medium sized Jicama bulb, julienne into matchsticks
Cut up some fresh grapefruit wedges and add
Cut up some Avocado wedges and add
salt and pepper
squeeze in some juice from the grapefruit rind.
add some extra virgin olive oil

More yum yum!
