Default i am thisclose to giving up!!!!!!!!!

thats IT. i am SO FED UP!!!! i restarted atkins 4 weeks ago and i have lost 3 or 4 pounds (they come and go)!!! and that was in the first week. i have been suffering through this darn "woe" with nothing to show for it for 3 weeks. its been soooo hard bc i havent been in ketosis (other than the first 2 days) and so i am hungry all the time and i feel so sluggish. it was sooo much easier for me the first time bc i was in ketosis for the whole 3 months.
i dont know whats going on but i never eat more than 20 carbs, sometimes i dont even eat more than 15. does anyone know anything that might kick start it???? i am desperate to get into as that appears to be the only way i can lose weight.

thanks for letting me vent
EVE

Oh please hang in there!!

Give us some daily food intake examples.
It apparently does get harder after the first time, but no excuse to give up??? Where would that take you???

Keep it at 20 not 15 carbs, if you are hungry eat !! just keep to the allowable stuff.

Kathy

I know it's been very hard, Eve, but you shouldn't be suffering. This way of eating should be enjoyable. Maybe you could be more specific about why it seems like suffering to you.

The whole point of it being a "way of eating" instead of a "diet" is that diets are to be endured, like dental surgery, and a "way of eating" brings ease and joy to your life.

Maybe another plan would help. Please let us know.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Even though we genereally feel well on Atkins, it's still very hard with everything around us.

(Big Hugs) Eve;

hang in there - it will happen for you. I agree with others, even though I'm pretty much a newbie, I enjoy this woe and it should be pleasurable for you. Are you eating enough? Post your day's menus please . Also - don't forget the water, I know it's hard to drink enough, but it really really does help. I never drink less than 64 ounces, but the other day, I drank over 300 ounces, and broke a mini-stall.

Good luck to you - you *can* do this.

Stacie

Eve,

Is giving up gonna make you feel better? You've done so well so far. So it's coming off slowly, you know what, at least it's coming off.

Post some menu's for us to help you find your dents.

I know it's frustrating but you have to hang on to the wagon, even if it means being dragged by it. We won't let go of you, we are here for you.

Need a buddy? Consider me one. You can do this.

Hang int there.

Hugs,

ok i just posted this whole response and ERASED IT. arggggghhhhh

anyway thanks for all your responses. i said "suffering" bc that is how its been knowing that i could probably be eating pizza everyday and having the same outcome.

ok so my menu, yesterday was pretty low;
woke up late so had an early lunch-baby spinach salad(1) with blue cheese (1), chicken breast with bacon and 1 slice cheese (1)
snack-one more chicken breast with bacon and slice cheese (1)
dinner-cobb salad (3), pork, 1/2 sausage, 4 wings, broccoli (3)
dessert-jello with whipped cream (3)
so thats 13 give or take and it was actually an extra low day.

breakfast is usually a few eggs and some cheese, and lunch another salad with some protein, tuna or chicken. we usually have very low carb dinners with a big salad and a piece of meat and some cheese. i dont know what else to do to get into ketosis.

oh and the topper....my body fat percentage has gone up.

Try adding more fats.

Cook with olive oil, eat avocado's. I fry my meats, soaked in oil. Since I started frying, the weight has melted off and I don't feel hungry when my fat count is up.

IMO I'd skip the jello and whip cream even if it is lc. Just to see if this will help move things along.

Good luck!

afwife i actually cooked my chicken in bacon fat and put butter on my broccoli just didnt add all that in the post. maybe your right about the jello, i dont eat it much, maybe once a week when i have a really low carb count like yesterdays.

harder than sticking to the plan is realizing that i might not be able to eat things that i was eating just fine the first time around. i swear that time i could eat 30 carbs and bars and candy and still be in ketosis.

I hear it's harder when you are retrying Atkins for a second even 3rd time around. But I'm sure once your body figures out what your trying to do to it, it'll give in.

Hang in there Eve, we are here for you. Have you tried Oil of Oregano. I've had great results since being on it. It's a yeast killer and it's helped me shed alot of pounds since on it.

It has other benefits as well.

Here is the link to the oil thread....

Eve, another thought: there's no way your body fat could have changed significantly in three weeks. Water balance or change in bowel habits, maybe, but not body fat. The methods we use to measure body fat - the impedence (Tana) scale, the measurement calculators - that just gives you an estimate. They're not particularly accurate. Give it some more time.

I noticed that you ate a lot of pork yesterday. I know when I eat higher sodium things, it tends to make me stall or even gain a few pounds. I know it is water retention, but it is still discouraging.

Hang in there, it will work if you keep it up.
