Lightbulb Past Powerful Posts Forum

I know this has been discussed in the past, but with all the great new ideas floating around of late I thought it would be a good time to resurrect this one.

What about a Past Powerful Posts Forum for just that? Kind of like "Required Reading Material" when we were in university?

So Wa'il I'm assuming from your comment that us moderators can add to the collection....whatever we feel is worthwhile, with a lot of traffic???

There's been lots of good posts with very little traffic too!

Define "lots." Traffic is certainly not a criteria for choosing a "powerful" thread, yet we also don't want (I think) "lots" of threads moved there. It would defeat the purpose of having such a place to find the "best of" kind of posts. Having said that, members may nominate threads to be included, and you may move threads directly.

Karen and Wa'il...I agree with the worthwhile posts... I was reading through the kitchen wondering what would be powerful posts there...and one was about "chocolate" with a lot of view had caught my attention...and I personally thought, "it's only because it was about chocolate that it drew so much attention".

Sounds perfect, I like the idea of member participation.

I think that there are a few questions that get asked A LOT about LCing; many of the replies are very thorough. Past Power Posts would serve as a great resource for newbies and oldbies alike. Directing people to have a look through the section along with the "Low Carb Tips" articles would be a great place for newcomers to become familar with how the Forum works and answer some questions at the same time.

If I can stick my 2 cents in here I'll vote for the quality over quantity -- a little piece of chocolate being better than 40 dozen rice cakes, IMHO.

I'll bet the moderators will recognize a Powerful Post when they see it!

I think the idea of having some good answers to basic questions (why is water important?) is a good one, too, but it might be that newcomers ask the basic questions partly for information and partly to interact. If the board gets to the point where the Top Ten Newbie questions are always answered with a link to an faq, it may lose something. (I've run into this elsewhere. We solved the problem by giving a brief, personal answer and then referring the poster to the faq.)
