Default Please someone settle it-- aspartame

Apaspertame,
I know it's not good for you and messes with blood sugar and gives you cravings etc.
but does it DISABLE KETOSIS?
Is it impossible to be in ketosis drinking say, 3 diet sodas a day?
Am I doing all this work for nothing?

thanks.

Am I reading your profile right? You are 5' 8" and only weight 107 pounds and want to lose more? Hon, please, talk to your doctor. No way that can be healthy. Wishing you all the luck with this

Yes it does mess up ketosis, Dr. Atkins even states in his book to stay away from it because it stalls. If you want to drink soda drink Diet Riet, it doesnt have any aspartame.

Pringle, your age has very little to do with what you should weigh; your height and bone structure do. Add to that the fact that you are still growing and maturing and you are dangerously underweight already if you are truly 5' 8" tall. Your goal weight is only 15 pounds higher than what my 9 year old daughter currently weighs. She is ranked in the 50th percentile for a girl her height (in other words, exactly what she should weigh) and she is 15 inches shorter than you!
I strongly encourage you to see a doctor before you try to lose more weight and follow that doctor's advice. I am very concerned for your current and future health and wellbeing.

When I was 15 I was your height and weighed 130 which I think is perfect being that I wore size 8's and 9's...any smaller than that and your pants are gonna be highwaters. Not to mention you'll get that Skeletor look going.

It doesn't mess up ketosis for me. It has no ZERo effect on my weight loss efforts.

I am 5'7" and weighed 120 in high school. I remember watching the Miss America pageants, and the girls that were as tall as me all weighed right around 120. If Miss America was that weight, I figured it must be pretty ideal. I'd rethink my weight loss plans if I were you--107 is already way too low for somebody 5'8".

Please rethink your weight loss. My daughter is 16 with a small frame. She weighs 108 pounds and is 5'8 also. Her doctor and soccer coach and trainer have her on a weight gain diet as she is considered borderline underweight. Please let your parents know what you are planning on doing with your weight. Get their advice before doing anything.

Do you have an eating disorder? Even if you do not, you must have a seriously distorted self-image going. As wonderful as this forum is, it is not a substitute for a physician, nutritionist and/or counselor......all of which would serve you far better than further weight loss.
