Default What do you eat when you want sweet?

Hey everybody.....

I am wondering what you do when you want something sweet to eat and don't want the sugar alcohols etc.

I think I am in withdrawls. I have a headache. Just had some eggs w/shrimps and a tiny bit of cream cheese.

I used to have a cup of tea w/splenda, but now am thinking I should not have splenda either (packets). I don't have a lot of them usually 1 or 2 a day if that.

I am drinking lots of water. Should I just eat some more?

If you are in OWL, why not have some strawberries? Have them with some cream or some cheese if you would like. For just a sweet taste, I like Crystal Light strawberry kiwi that comes in the bottle. It is sweetened with splenda. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

When I crave sweets, I find it best not to have anything sweet. I usually eat something like cream cheese and celery or chicken salad. It makes me feel full without making me want more sweets.

I heard something sour like a dill pickle will kill cravings for sweets.

I get chocolate cravings once in a while and I like to have 1 tbs cocoa 2 tbs splenda and 2 tbs cream mixed up.. or after i mix that up i sometimes fill the mug with water and a bit of vanilla heated in the microwave for hot cocoa.. or mix the cocoa and splenda (i sometimes use davinci syrup instead) in cream cheese and a tiny bit of sour cream ~ tastes like cheesecake pudding to me

this is only if you can spare the carbs of course and are a recovering chocoholic

i am a big (no pun intended) fan of cream cheese.. sometimes i mix a little strawberry davinci syrup in with it..

i also am OK with a can of diet rite pop.. or some lecarb frozen dessert

I end up having a ZCarb bar or a Hershey's 1G bar - they have some sugar alcohol - but not the maltitol, so no laxative effect. They use Inulin - which gives them the same texture as chocolate. I guess this would depend on your reasons for not wanting the sugar alcohol.......but I thought I would throw this in just in case it was the laxative problem

Cream cheese rolled into balls dipped into SF dry jello.

Peanut butter with Sugar-free Chocolate bits. I just put the chocolate chips into the peanut butter and have two tablespoons of this.

LC cheesecake though I've yet to make this...gonna try really soon.

sugar-free jello.

Thanks for all the great ideas!

So do they have sugar free chocolate chips that you use for the peanut butter thing? That sounds yummy. We found carb solutions low carb Peanut butter. That is SO good.

In all honesty, I want to get off the sugar alcohols because I have been binging with them big time. A couple a day. And it has stalled my weight release.

So, if I can get off them then work through the stress or whatever that is triggering my binging, maybe I can use them occasionally for an actual treat instead of a mandatory.

We have a few low carb stores that sell tons of low carb "junk food" and we have gone nuts! All the cookies, cakes, candies, you name it.

These are all great ideas. I had 2 tbs of LC Peanut Butter and a Cinnablast tea which is sweet with just the oils it is flavored with and no sugars. That did the trick although I still have a headache.

Thanks for your support and listening. It really helped me through tonight!

HUGS to all

No, I haven't found it though I think Atkins said it was out there. Just take sugar-free dark chocolate and chop it up into bits and mix into the peanut butter and just eat a few spoonfuls, like 2 spoonfuls for a easy and quick snack that'll satisfy that sweet tooth.

These are all great suggestions! I also found MT. Olive Bread & Butter pickles (made with Splenda) and they have been hitting the spot =)

I eat either a CarbZ bar or Russell Stover sugar free candies (same as the low carb but cost less). Also, there are sugar free popsicles that have 1 carb and 15 calories if you're close to the freezer. I don't seem to stall on sugar alcohols, so I don't worry about that too much.

I also like sugar free Jello and whipped cream. And what the heck, I admit it, I shoot whipped cream from the spray can right into my mouth sometimes.

Although I should also say that there are times I just have protein -- something meaty -- to beat down hardcore cravings. I have more cravings for salty & crunchy than I do sweet, though.

a couple tbsp of cream cheese with splenda sprinkled on top, microwaved for 20 seconds, stirred and tastes like frosting.
