Talking A question from a newbie

Hi! I just started Atkins induction. My question is can you eat pork rinds while on induction? Also, I love BBQ pork rinds. The carb content is 0 grrams, however, sugar is listed in the ingredients. Are they acceptable? Thanks so much in advance!!

Pork rinds are fine. But not the ones with sugar. Try a different store and find ones without sugar or other stuff that shouldn't be in there.

BTW.....can't be a zero carb count with sugar as an ingredient.

Don't eat too much of it either, for one thing you'll get sick of it, and it can stall you.

I don't eat it anymore.

I ate them on induction and didn't have any problems. Try sticking with the plain/salted or hot. Watch how much you eat, because its a lot of sodium.

...and make sure you're not eating pork rinds instead of your veggies. Eat those, too.

I actually called one of the pork rind manufacturers about 4 months ago (Turkey Creek-- bbq flavored). It's almost 1 carb. I would wait a couple or three weeks into induction before adding the bbq pork rinds in, because of the sugar. I think the plain ones, in moderation, would be ok now.

That carb labeling really irritates me. The nutritional info states "0 carbs," but lists sugar as an ingredient. It's amazing how much junk is added to food--you literally can't find clean food. At Whole Foods, of all places, I found one sausage out of all the brands they carry that does not contain sugar, honey, corn syrup, starch, or any other junk. Unfortunately they add salt, which is bad enough, but at least it's not sugar.

I started off reading the 1972 DANDR, and pork rinds were definitely recommended for Induction then. I ate them during Induction with no problem. They make great crunchies for salads, and sometimes a handful is just a good snack.

Funny thing is, I absolutely loved pork rinds before starting Atkins. Now I can't hardly stand them. They bloat me something terrible, so I eat them only in small quantities now.

I really only eat pork rinds when I am in the need of something really salty! And they aren't even salty, I am so weird! I make my self think things...o-goodness!!! The funny part is that there not really tasty even???

One thing (should've thought of this before) I like pork rinds for is like chips. One of our grocery store carries a delicious chicken salad in their deli (chicken, green onions, mayo), and it is absolutely delicious on pork rinds! They also have a really good pea salad that's good on them. (No, I don't eat peas very often--just picked a little bit up from the deli the other day and shared it with the girls.)
