Angry Warning: SKYY Sport "Low Carb" Malt Beverage

I was so excited when I saw SKYY Sport Low Carb in the grocery store. I had been a big fan of SKYY before I started LCing. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's an alcoholic malt beverage similar to Smirnoff Ice.

The packaging advertised SKYY Sport as low carb, but I couldn't find the carb count anywhere. Kind of unusual for a low-carb product, right? Only by reading the tiniest print on the bottle label was I able to discover that each bottle contains 15 g of carbs! How can they claim that as low-carb? It's roughly the amount of carbs in a whole six-pack of Michelob Ultra. SKYY has opportunistically defined "low-carb" for their new drink as "less than 1/2 the carbs of other top selling flavored malt beverages." So SKYY Sport is only low-carb in comparison to its ridiculously high-carb counterpart.

What a disappointment! And it makes me a bit angry, too. Of course, LCers always have to be vigilant about sketchy product representation, but this seems like outright false advertising to me. BTW, I foolishly bought a six-pack of this stuff because I imagined that I saw a low carb count on the box somewhere. I really wanted it to be low carb, I guess. It wasn't until I got it home that I realized my mistake. I hope Publix gives refunds on booze!

not all low carb products are for those of us still trying to loose. But for those on maintenence these products are great. My wife loves it. She is done loosing and can now add some of the new "lower" carb things like this into her diet.
