Dawn that is incredible!!!!! I almost want to cry hearing that!!!! I know too many people on diabetes who wouldn't listen to a word I'd say w/ regards to Atkins. One of them died. Your recovery is BEAUTIFUL and MIRACULOUS!!!!

GOD BLESS,

My Defining Moment came when DH and I were talking about having another child. DH didn't want to do it until I lost some weight - he was afraid for my health because I gained 25 lbs with my first pregnancy. I told DH I'd never hit the 250 mark...well, low and behold - those stupid numbers were glaring right at me on the scale! I did what I said I wasn't going to do! So I tried Weight Watchers (I lost about 30 lbs on WW in the past) but this time it just wasn't working. I was hungry all the time and the weight wasn't budging. So I decided to try Atkins. Granted I've only lost about 15 lbs since January - but I feel so good - my pants are hanging off me - I'm losing slowly but surely and I'm not hungry and I can eat a lot of the stuff I love!! I'm not even close to my goal yet, but when I get down to 200 - we'll start trying for another child.

I am blessed.. and it is miraculous... we tend to think miracles have to be these big explosive kinds with lots of fanfare and no help from us.. but I believe God works miracles in so many different ways.. sometimes.. we have to move, so God has something to work with!

My moment came when DH and I were discussing having our first child and I froze in horror at getting pregnant at my current weight. Would I put myself and my child at risk? How much would I gain and how difficult would it be to lose? Will I be able to play with my child and not be out of breath? Will I be able to fun stuff with my kids without feeling embarrassed...trips to Disney World etc. So, my defining moment was love for a child that I am yet to conceive

I started getting old people diseases and I didn't think I was old. My diabetes was getting worse and worse and I couldn't go on ignoring it. My blood pressure was rising and I couldn't stop it. I gained weight after I had my first born (threw up all nine months during pregnancy and lost weight). I got a good look in the mirror and decided to go on a diet. Which I did periodically for 21 years - lose a few pounds, gain them back with more. I finally realized that nobody is responsible for my health problems and weight problems but me. I took responsibility for every bite that goes in my mouth. I'm not weak, and I can do this. (I tell myself that everyday).
