Default Morning Headches

Have got a dreadful headache at the moment - slept for too long, and got up late this morning, which is always a killer for me

Not sure if this happens due to dehydration or possibly overnight caffeine-withdrawal or perhaps something else entirely, but it really makes me feel dreadful for the rest of the day - fuzzy headed, irritable etc.

Just wondered if anyone has experienced these sorts of headaches and how they've alleviated them, or whether anyone does know what actually causes them?

hi Demi

*racks brain*

just you or all the family? Check your boiler if you have one in the house, low level carbon monoxide ? well, I like to be dramatic whilst looking for causes if I can.........seriously tho, its what your Doc may ask.........

Review your pillows. >>> neck probs can giva awful headaches.... maybe you'd be better off with just 1 pillow for your spine alignment.
Or consider an orthopaedic neck pillow.

neck massage - as above - tense neck muscles can cause headache.
The Mail on Sunday Dr Ali has lots of neck massage techniques.

Default Completely off coffee?

It'll clear up in a day or two but it's awful while you're in the midst of it. Bad enough that I didn't even try--plenty of people doing Atkins on less but not no coffee at all.

Dehydration is also a kicker. I drink a LARGE glass of water before bed and that's another reason to get up in the morning when I might otherwise linger a little longer.

Hi Demi!

I used to have morning headaches, even after I had cut out caffeine for years. I knew what the main pbm was, but it is hard to stop the cycle. I would have legitimate migraine-type headaches, esp around certain times of the month. Then, I would start taking medication. My medicine of choice in the old days was BC powders, but got off of them because of the caffeine effect. I still have rebound headaches tho when I find myself taking too much Advil. Here lately, I have noticed that I might go all day without anything. Not to say that my head doesn't hurt some--I have neck pbms--but not the way it used to. That rebound effect is hard to escape--from caffeine or medication--but if you can suffer thru the initial pain/irritability (as well as your family, etc) it can definitely get better.

Good Luck!
Tig
