Default taco bell anyone?

Okay, I ate 2 crunchy tacos minus the "shell" in a bowl. Anyone have any idea the carb count?

Taco meat,
cheddar,
Lettuce
Hot taco sauce

It was good. only $1.68 too!

Try their calculator. It allows you to take the shell off.

I love Taco Bell! I just finished my lunch from there!

Taco Salad on a nacho plate, no shell, no beans, extras cheese and extra sour cream. YUMMY!

Oh my! I love the taco salad and I just used Taco Bells online meal calculator - the taco salad with everything EXCEPT the beans and the shell, is 17 carbs!

Even removing the bad stuff its still high. They must add something carby to their meat, sugar or something...

Ok, I just did a quick experiment on Taco Bell's website. I chose the Taco Salad, but checked "no" to everything except the ground beef, and still came out with a 5 gram carb total. Included in that total is 1 gram of sugar. Now I KNOW they put sugar and other stuff in their meat mixture. Bummer!

Aside from 5 carbs of meat, how much could there be in a shell-less, bean less salad.

I figure it's about 1 1/2 C Lettuce, less than 1/4 cup of tomatoe and green onion, maybe 1 oz of cheese and about 1/4 cup of sour cream. All of these things add up to 6g carbs 2g fiber. Plus 5 from the meat, I'm getting about 9 total carbs. For me, that's fine lunch!

I'm sure they are counting the container of salsa and maybe even the new tortilla strips. Thankfully I just pitch both containers and use the taco sauce!

The carbs in the meat are coming from the spices to flavor it. If you buy Taco Seasoning at the store it comes out to 3 carbs per serving.

Yeah, its probably the seasonings they use in their meat. I made a homemade taco salad tonight for dinner, and bought one of those seasoning mixes at the store. I looked for the ingredients on the "taco seasoning mix" ones and they read like 3 or 4 grams of carbs per serving which is like 1 tsp dry mix. Geez! I choose the "fajita seasoning mix" which was 1 gram per serving. It still gave me the same taco seasoning flavor and it was alot less.

I eat at Taco Bell almost every weekend. Taco salad, minus the beans and I leave the shell behind too. I order chicken and steak gorditas too and eat the insides leaving the tortilla for my 2 yr old. He loves Mommies left overs.

Cheers,
