Post Great read

I just finished reading a book called "Passing as Thin", it was fantastic!! It didn't have the Atkins diet as a topic, but instead, it was about a woman who was very overweight, her trials as a child, and how she felt when she was a "normal" size. It told of her problems such as not fitting in a seat on a roller coaster, and settling for a crappy job because she didn't think that she could get a better one, and when she looses the weight, it tells a lot of the things that I am going through right now. How she still see's her old self in the mirror, and how others tell her to stop loosing weight even though she is not near her goal because she is considered the "fat one" and everyone else judges themselves by her weight loss. It is really good, if you get a chance, go to the library and look up the title!!

Probably going to have to check that one out.

I've always been 'the fat one'. I have no idea how to be anything else

I need that one, too. I think my SIL didn't invite me for Easter because this is the first time in the 25 years that I've known her that I'm a smaller size than she is. Oh well, I'll just have my little old lamb chops & spend the day playing with my dog.

I read this book a couple of weeks ago! I loved it. I could relate to everything that happened to her when she was overweight. I wish she had talked more about the kind of foods she ate to lose weight as her rate of loss seemed tremendous! Maybe she has another book in the works, her own diet and recipe book!!

I agree!! I am going to read the book again, because I was so excited when I read it that I read it as fast as I could. This time, I am going to go slower, and try to soak up some more !!

Thanks for the info! I just requested it from the library. The full title is "Passing for thin: losing half my weight and finding myself", right?
