Default A stall breaker... don't go food shopping

Ok, I noticed something that helps me break stalls.

I tend to overbuy stuff when I go to the grocery store. Like, I keep forgetting if I've got ginger at home, so I'll buy another jar. Then I end up with 5 jars of it. So, while my cupboards might be bursting with food stuff, it isn't all things that call my name. Like that can of cream of asparagus soup that has been sitting on the shelf for 8 months.

So, to break a stall what I do is force myself to use up the stuff like that. I basically don't go grocery shopping when my favorite foods are gone, leaving me to make due with whatever is on hand. It works! I go to the pantry, take a look at what is there and give up and go read a book or something.

You are ingenious! I think I might try that. Think of all the time I will save by not going to the grocery store.

Until the 15th, we don't HAVE a grocery store in our twon. We drive 20 miles or so to buy things... it sure cuts down on the overstock situation! I have the opposite problem, though. If I run out of my low-carb favorites, my son's "hide the carbs from Mom" shelf starts calling my name.

That's a brilliant idea. It seems like since I've started this WOE, I'm bopping over to the store at least 3 times a week to pick up something else to cook with- I need to knock it off and make due with what I already have.

I'm dying to go to the store because I'm out of low carb tortillas and I have guacamole and salsa...

Maybe I'll struggle along for about a week. I got so much STUFF in my cupboards I really need to use up but I don't...

Maybe I could use that cream of asparagus soup in some sort of casserole receipe.

LOL! Takes me back to when I was broke and in college last year! All the good stuff would be gone and I would be eating oatmeal for 3 weeks. Right now I just try hard to keep around things I like and use a little more will power than I used to, that way it will help me in the long run.
