Default waffle house omelet

Hello everyone,
How is everyone this Sunday afternoon? I had a Waffle house ham and cheese omelet last night for dinner. Was curious if any of you guys had eaten it before and had an estimate of a carb count for it? I believe they probably add *something* to the eggs (milk maybe?) that raises the carb count. Just wanted to know if I had really done something bad last night eating it? Hopefully it wasnt too outrageous for its carb count.

Brittany

There is a thread somewhere on here that talks about IHOP adding pancake (or maybe it was waffle) batter to their omelets, but I don't know about Waffle House. Maybe you could call them and ask them what's in them?

Waffle house, at least my local one, does NOT add anything to the eggs, they just beat them so that they are really fluffy. I've asked them and I always watch them cook since they have an open kitchen. The only "bad" thing is that they use some type of butter flavored oil to cook it in, so it prob contains hydrogenated fats. So for a carb count its basically 2 eggs, and whatever carbs are in the ingredients you get.

IHOP uses pancake batter in their eggs. Even if the place claims not to, I always specify 3 times that I would like plain eggs with nothing in them, no milk, no batter nothing.

Once at Ihop the server insisted there was nothing in their eggs, and then when I spoke to someone else there they confirmed they used a bit of the batter. I wrote to the company asking them, and they confirmed it as well and just told me to ask for plain eggs.

Just request to talk with the cook. Explain that you're low carbing. Even cracker barrell will make you an omelette (with nothing added either) if you request it even though its not on their menu. I've found that for the most part, people at restaurants, even here in the rural south, are accustomed to people being on Atkins and they don't mind the questions and different meal prep sometime. The cool thing about waffle house though is you actually watch them make your food - so its easy to to see that they are putting in it what they say they are.

man, I had no idea IHOP puts batter in thier omlettes, I love IHOP!!! I guess from now on I will have to specify that I want plain eggs. The Cheesecake factory has one of the best omlettes ever but I'm sure they add something in it though.

I order my eggs basted. That way I can see nothing is added to them. The rare times I ask for scrambled I make sure to specify that I want only eggs, no milk or anything added. Many places are more then willing to comply.

i was a cook at ihop. They add the batter to make the omeletts "thicker" so they dont fall apart.
