Sag Paneer is a nice curry type dish, but probably not what you are looking for.

What I do is take and melt butter in a pan, then mix in curry powder and cook for a little bit. Then add fresh spinach and cook until wilted. After that you add cottage cheese and cook until the curds are melted.

For a meat based curry I like to use either coconut milk or yogurt. I brown the meat, then add curry spices. After it cooks a bit I add the liquid and cook a while longer. Since we can't have rice, I will mix in grated cauliflower as a filler to kind of soak up the sauce.

Thank you LadyBelle.......How much cottage cheese do you put with your spinach recipe?.....All the cottage cheese I have found are all pretty high in carbs......Also, have you ever tried this recipe using another kind of cheese, like cream cheese?......

Your other suggestion sounds good too....I don't have coconut milk or yogurt at the moment but I will get some, so I can try this.....What kind of coconut milk and yogurt do you use?.....

Thanks again...
Julie
PS....Congratulations on your weight lose....Good Job!!!!!

There's also this one:

INDIAN RED CURRY
1 lb chuck beef stew
1 T butter
1/2 t curry
dash cinnamon, cardamom & pepper
1 c canned coconut milk
1/2 c red pepper
1 t paprika
1 garlic clove
Brown meat and garlic in butter, then add spices and stir fry few minutes. Add red pepper and coconut milk. Reduce heat and simmer til done (2-3 hours, add water if necessary.)
Serves 3 ecc 4 carbs per serving

Hi JS. I like making sag paneer, and I use the dry curd cottage cheese. It's usually sold in a clear plastic package. It's lower in carbs than regular cottage cheese.

I got lots of curry recipes when I did a search. Try this: go to the "Main Dishes" forum, then scroll down to the bottom where it says "Search this forum". Search for "curry".

Hmmm... I don't remember the brand name, so I'll check next time I'm at the store. It's usually near the cream cheese and the specialty cheeses. I usually use about 1/2 cup, plus a whole lot of spinach. Usually the whole bag (fresh baby spinach.) I make it the same way Ladybelle does, except the dry curd cheese won't melt, it'll just get nice and soft.

For coconut milk I just use what is found in the asian section. The "Lite" is lower carb then regular. You can also buy coconut cream which is much richer and denser and practically pure fat www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com (they have the best unsweetened coconut I have ever tasted)

Good yogurts include the Sunnyfield farms whole milk unsweetened, brown cow whole milk unsweetened, goat's milk yogurt (only 8g carbs per cup). Check your local stores to see what kind od plain whole milk yogurts they have. You can also make your own using the LC carb count down milk. The whole milk makes a nice thick, wonderful tasting yogurt. I use my yogurt machine to make it. I got it off amazon.com
