Default Friut: the best way to add it to your WOE

Dear All,

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips about fruit, and how best to include it into a low carb life style.

Basically I find that fruit makes me feel hungry (probably due to the carbs etc, ) so is there a way of incorporating it with other foods or eating it before a meal ? I would like to beable to have at least one piece of fruit during the day, in addition to my veg portions.

Any suggestions would be great

Thanks.

I whiz a handful of frozen raspberries in the food processor then add a couple of tablespoons of mascarpone cheese to make an instant raspberry ice-cream. Add sufficient double cream to make it the right consistency. You can do this with other berries but they MUST be frozen.

The fat content in the mascarpone/double cream really fills you up, so I guarantee it won't make you hungry.

You can add a little sweetener if you like and/or some vanilla extract.

It's really good

We are encouraged not to eat fruit on its own, but with fat or protein.

I have 2 portions of fruit a day. A small amount with my lunch, currently one or 2 plums and then in the evening a small amount with Greek yoghurt. I go for grapes and melon mainly here. Strawberries, raspberries, etc are fine. Just have a measured amount. In general a whole apple is to big, but half an apple with a wedge of cheese would be fine.

If I have a sweet craving I make up some Robertson's Sugar-Free Jelly, then when it's set blend it with a handful of strawberries / raspberries and some double cream for a filling and low carb treat.

I have some strawberries with clotted cream as a snack or treat after dinner.

I can't eat fruit now as I'm on a strict fibro diet. However up until a few months ago my regular brekkie was 3 portions of fruit with a couple scoops of either protein powder or natural yogurt and some milk - soya or cows. Blend in blender until smooth. If constipated add a spoonful of linseeds too! Yummy! And it keeps me going for hours. If you use frozen berries it comes out like a whipped ice cream.
