Default I don't get FITDAY

I've tried on two occasions to use FITDAY and I just don't get it. Perhaps I want it to crank out something faster than it is made to do. Perhaps I am just dim and don't get it.
I wanted to figure out what the calories, fat, and carbs were of a squash casserole that I make and boy, was it tough. I gave up.
Anyone else with the same problem?

I tend to stay away from casseroles or recipes I used to like just for that reason. It's too much of a pain to calculate it!!!!!!!!!! Occasionally I will break down a recipe if I know it's one I will use enough to make it worth the time. I wish you could enter a whole recipe and have it calculate everything for you though.

Yep, recipes with more than a few ingredients can be a problem.
The thing I don't like about fitday is, I put in a custom food, and put the serving size at ONE OUNCE, but every time I go to add it to my day, it adds ONE LITER. it's a pain, but I use it religiously.

I too don't use it daily... it just takes too long to enter in what I am eating.
I keep thinking if my recent foods list gets long enough it will be easier to select, but that hasn't happened yet.

I am completely anti-Fitday online, but I love the Fitday PC version. I started using it Sunday and I am in LOVE.

I agree with you - the PC version is awesome - I enter ingredients for a recipe as a custom food and it calculates the works - the hardest part is deciding ahead of time how I will start - 8 servings, 6 etc. if I have never made the recipe before. Once I put 6, decided it was 8 after entering ingredients and it UPPED the ingredients - but at least all I had to do was change the amounds, not look for the ingredient again.

I have been able, I think, to determine that I will have to keep calories in the 1700-2000 range to really lose but the good news is I learned I can maintain with a much higher number of calories so that will be useful for the future!

I liked Fitday and used it for a while but then I got Fitday PC. Best $20 I've spent on software. I wondered how it was different too. Let see....
I can't remember the online version very well so I'll just say what I can about the PC version...
I can make anything a permanent "favorite" so I can quickly add it to my day
I can break down food, nutrients, etc. by meal
I've even put in a couple of recipes
I enter lots of custom foods...I just grab the package of what I'm eating and type it into the "Food Label" tab
I can set Weight goals and it will chart my progress.
It has tons of analysis that it will calculate
I know I'm not doing it justice with this explanation but hopefully some other users will pipe up and do a better job!
It's obvious that the programmer spends all his time working on making the PC version better while the online version will always just be "OK"....

Hi Elsah - Archie did a good job of outlining the things I love about the PC version. I have many custom foods and many recipes that I have put in. For the recipes you just put in the ingredients - and you can use "custom" ingredients in your custom recipe. I actually have it at home and work and simply send the file back and forth every day. The analysis is awesome - calendar will show you your calories for the day - summarize them for the week - you can track so many things. Well, you get the picture. There is a thread for FitDay PC wish list that you might want to check out as it talks a lot about the differences.

I think it is worth every penny.

Whew...I am glad that I am not the only one that doesn't get it....Perhaps I will check out the PC version, I would hate to buy something that I'm not going to use though, but I really want to start keeping better track of my calories, fat and carbs...I have 25 more pounds to go to goal...and I'd like to see them gone by June( wishful thinking I know)....I'll be ok if it takes the summer to get rid of them!

Archie did a great job outlining the differences... I would add that if you use recipes a lot this is a lifesaver. You just make a custom food and then plug in the ingredients. Also the serving sizes for all ingredients are different - just about everything you can think of!
