Question Question to Steph_hi

I just wanted to ask you after reading your post about cheating and you gaining the 10 pounds then losing it within 2 days. Did you go out of ketosis from cheating and if so how long did it take you to get back into ketosis.

I cheated last weekend with 3 beers and have been good ever since. I put on about 4-6 pounds (hard to tell, I am in kilos) and it has not come back down. my ketosticks are coming up normal, does this mean I am not losing fat anymore. I am so confused and disillusioned (not sure of the correct spelling here). I just don't know how to fix this. If I stick with it will things get back to normal?

Any help would be great.

I have asked about this in another post but got a wishy washy reply that I didn't understand.

Thanks Tracie

Sounds to me like if you are in ketosis, then everything is OK.

But, I'm not in ketosis and that is what is worrying me so much.

Smile Hey Tracie

hi!!

yeah i was bad. A friend of mine told me i could go off of the diet on week ends. This is how she lost 60 lbs (lucky bum), but i need more disapline.

So... I cheated one week end. You name it i ate it. Pancakes, cookies, and i think i had some potatoes. Anyhoo, i put on about 10 lbs. I knew it was water, because my fingers were swollen and no one can gain that much weight in fat in a weekend.

So, to get back in ketosis, i did the induction thing over again. It took about three days, but the water was out and my ketostix were lightly purple.

Just drink lots of water. I ate all meats but stayed away from colourful veggies and processed foods. Eat spinach or broccoli, stay away from sweet tasting veggies. Eat lots of steak and other meats.

Drink water, drink water. This helped a lot. I drink about three-fours litres a day now.

My trick is also to stay on induction. I am going to stay on it until the weight is off. Then add carbs for maintenance. I find my body likes induction mode better.

Also, GET THE BOOK!!! I am a hypocrite when i say this as i am waiting for the new edition (november 2001) But i have a lot of great mentors who've done it, so i can pick their brains in the mean time. But i plan on memorizing the book when it comes out. I am too cheap to buy the old edition when the new one is so close to being here. I have heard there are a lot of new topics and ideas in it. YAY!! If you live in the states you should be able to get it already. The internet and this lowcarb.ca site is an excellent resource.

I hope this helps,
write again if you have more questions.

~Steph
