Default I really need to work on . . .

Body Image.

There's a guy at work that keeps commenting at how much weight I've lost, and that I don't have any butt left.

I don't see that.

I look in the mirror at home - and I still see a fat person - and they're not just screaming to get out - they are there, in all their fatness.

If I don't see from the waist down - I can believe I've lost weight.

If I see the whole thing - especially from the side view - forget it - the old body image in my mind is coming back to haunt me.

I think for a lot of people, this is a very common thing. Many times I look at my own thighs and I think they look a goodly size. No where near as small as a friend of mine who wears a size 10. But I wear between a 6/8 now. How can that be? Then once in a while I will catch a look at my legs in a mirror and I realize that they do look as small as her. Hmmmm, looking down, my thighs still look think from this view.

But this goes both ways, I have a sister who always see herself as thin. No matter how heavy she is. And by god she dresses that way . You always wonder when she looks in a mirror after getting dress, does she say, "dam I look good" The rest of us just want to sit a little futher away from her. I guess it is better that I see myself as heavier than thinner. Keeps my modisity intack.

Hi guys...I just wanted to jump in here because I can totally relate to this. No matter what size my clothes are or what people say-- I see what I want in the mirror. I used to think it was only me, but I think most people tend to distort reality when it comes to themselves. It's so hard to be so hard on yourself though...isn't it? I find myself staring at my body in mirrors (at my gym) and fixating on my butt and thighs....I try to remind myself everyday how important it is to be healthy, but no matter what I am still so body conscious. I think for me it is partly because I am so scared of gaining the weight back so I induce paranoia...lol! Oh well, all of us are just way too hard on ourselves...just checking in here shows we are trying to feel better about ourselves.

People at work comment to me that I'm "wasting away" and that I have no butt. I still see fat. The only thing I believe are the numbers on the scale.

After many years of yo-yoing, my last attempt at weight loss took me down to what I felt was a good looking weight. Somehow that picture is still in my mind and there are times when I am so shocked when I see myself (full length) in the mirror. My goal weight is what I was before (a # of times) and I'm looking forward to it.
