Default Affirmation of Atkins WOE

I have already posted this in my journal, but thought it might be a good idea to post it here too, so that other Atkins followers can make their own affirmations as well

I hope that you, as a low carb dieter, have not been taken in by this fear-mongering. Not only is there no reason to believe Dr. Atkins died from the effects of his low carbohydrate diet, there are several recent, well-conducted medical studies backing up everything Dr. Atkins claimed for his diet: That it was effective not only for weight loss without hunger, but for improving cholesterol and triglyceride numbers, too.

If you still have any lingering doubts, ask yourself: Am I more or less healthy since I started my low carbohydrate diet? Have I lost weight? Do I feel better? Do I have more energy? Does my blood work look good? Is my blood sugar stable? Because that, my friends, is the bottom line.

Am I more or less healthy since I started my low carbohydrate diet?
DEFINITELY MORE - I feel much, much healthier - no more IBS, no more indigestion, TOM/PMS not such a problem etc.

Have I lost weight?
YES - it is slower this time round, but I know that it is happening.

Do I feel better?
ABSOLUTELY - I feel great!

Do I have more energy?
POSITIVELY - my incredible energy was part of the reason why my DH decided to low carb as well (he is doing it as a healthy, rather than a weight loss woe).

Does my blood work look good?
UNQUESTIONABLY - my ratios are perfect and my doctor is extremely pleased.

Is my blood sugar stable?
CERTAINLY - which means my hormones are balanced, so no more huge mood swings.

... and as for the bottom line ... that's definitely getting smaller and toned too

Those are wonderful questions that I think everyone should ask themselves before cheating , when feeling down etc. It's easy to only look at weight loss as a positive side effect of the WOE, but there is so much more!!

Awesome post Demi!

I feel the same way, Demi.

I think it was after 2-3 weeks of induction that I realized I would never go back to my old way of eating......not only because of 'weight problem' but because carbs were making me miserable. No food is worth feeling that way.......

I'm with you Demi.
My energy level is so much better, weight slowly but surely coming off, blood work results great - what's not to love!
This is definately a wol, not a diet and it has been a wonderful change not only for me, but my family has really benifited also. My little boy is proud of his "new super Atkins mommy". He says I'm now faster than the average mom!
