Default Flax vs. wheat/oat bran

Due to diverticulitis, I've got to increase bran in my diet. Is flax as effective a bran as wheat/oat bran in fiber content?

flax seeds are very healthy in addition to wheat bran. Oat bran from what I understand has far less fiber in it.

I'd vote mix them. That's what I do for a nice hot cereal. 2 tbsp ground flax seeds, 2 tbsp wheat bran, 1 scoop designer whey then maybe some cinnimon and liquid. Then nuke for 1 min.

Today I tried it with peanut butter, butter and chocolate designer whey, it was a ncie treat.
