Default how many carbs in the communion wafer?

And what about the wine? Ok, don't laugh. I don't know why I've never thought about this before, but all of a sudden I started wondering in church this morning...

I had to laugh - I've thought of this too. But then I thought that whatever carbs they are, I'll use them to honor God for that day. It would be like rejecting a gift if I didn't in my opinion.

Well, if you're Catholic. Many protestants don't believe that the wafer and wine/juice become real flesh and blood. There's a word for that...someone help me... transubsomethingsomething?

Anyway, that way I look at is there ARE some things more important than dieting, no? Like honoring Christ, and your religious beliefs. A few carbs, even if you take communion once a week, are not important in the scheme of things.

The thought crossed my mind too...I mentioned it to my husband, and he scolded me for asking. I almost feel like I need to confess to the priest for thinking about it (and tonight's my son's First Penance!). It's funny the things you think about on this diet.

Hillary, that would be transubstantiation.

Ya know, communion isn't a cheat. In fact, I think it is a freebie, and even if it isn't, it should be.

Maybe it is just me, but isn't there just something that feels slightly profane about a communion carb-count, whether you believe in transubstantiation or not?

Maggie, I agree. It's communion, for goodness sake. Aren't some things just so holy that they're not even a question?

No offense, sydnarella. I just mean that it's not worth worrying about, because of the significance.

My pastor is the one who got me started on Atkins. He had lost 35 lbs., so I inquired. Well, anyway. Before I started, I always would joke around with him saying that he'd get a sugar buzz from the wafer and Welch's grape juice. I've never heard of the concept of transub-something-something, err transubstantiation before. An interesting concept.

I say Receive the body and blood of christ and he will help you loose those couple of carbs

Without Christ even Dr. Atkins WOL won't work!

Just my personal opinion!
